when, technically, is a NEW GUY not NEW GUY anymore?

Is it a probation thing or is it like swim camp growing up where you started as a tadpoll and then graduated to minnow. At some point you passed through sea cuccumber, codfish, catfish and finally made it to dolphin.

Seems to me that a guy hired at NJA today will have the same relative seniority position in 3 years when the games continue. Scope and seniority are as important to the "New Guys" as the "Old Guys".

Whatever an "Old Guy" is anyway...

Maybe it is because it is to early. dang Archie, take a pill and enjoy a year or two some well deserved R & R. The fight will resume. Don't worry about that.

I couldn't of said it better.

When the new hire has more than double the Turbine PIC of the CA.

Not comparing johnson size here.

We've all been referred to as "the new guy" on a trip at different companies. At what point is the new guy not new anymore based on time with the company.

Turbine PIC time in some logbook is noce but that's what got you the job. Now it means squat.

Sorry. Poor attempt at humor.

I would say when you are a CA, you are no longer considered green. Most pax treat FO's differently than CA's, most FOM's limit the FO's abilities and decision making, most company personnel regard CA's has being "seasoned".

Of course, this theory is bunk if the company in question is a place that offers hyper-upgrades.

Most of my class had more than double the PIC turbine time than most of the Captain's we have flown with. NJA is very different from Part 121 and I have learnt a lot from these guys. Without exception everybody in the company I have worked with has made me very welcome it is a very diverse group.
