Eventually a good deal will emerge.

How?

A good deal didn't simply "emerge" last time around.

Forget about some supposed pilot shortage. NJA will always find pilots willing to come here. We aren't on par with the majors, but we're definitely better than the regionals. Keep dreaming about those market forces though.
 
For not being angry at the early offers? Do the union members expect the company to offer a massive raise initially? Negotiations don't work like that. As the process continues, the offers will improve. We want lots, they want to give us little. Eventually a good deal will emerge. Or NJA won't be able to hire good pilots, because they will all go to Delta and Southwest and American. I have confidence NJASAP will hammer out a good deal. Why be angry DURING the bargaining process?


I love how you with no experience, no backbone, no history, that has been proven wrong at every post, and wanting to scab is explaining to us how negotiations work. Haha that is great.

Please as I've asked time and time again please grace us with your experience in union negotiations and what contracts you've worked under.

All the guys you fly with? I know all the guys you fly with and nobody agrees with you. They just know that you aren't smart enough to understand the argument.
 
I hang around with a lot of libertarians (like G4 dude) so I know how they think. "The key principle of liberalism is peace." He's not trying to screw you but what he perceives as union tactics is against his core beliefs like pork is against some people's religious beliefs.

I like the principle of peace. But it has to be a two way street... and in these negotiations it is not.

What?!! Don't be silly! Didn't you hear? All his friends that he flies with told him he need do nothing but sit back and let the NC do their thing. Easy peesy! Obviously his friends are far more informed on these things than our NC, or even our Eboard, so we have nothing to worry about. Give the guy a break! Sheesh!

G4 will of course get a bonus, courtesy the rank and file.

So sad for us because of him and his "friends".

He probably just signed up for Known Crewmember as well. (I hope not though, the least he could do for the rank and file)
 
It is a negotiation. Do you expect the company's early offer to be high? Negotiations don't work that way. All pilots I flew with last several tours agree with me. Let the negotiations proceed, and see what the result is. Then we decide if we like it or not. We don't understand the anger DURING the process, or why y'all are angry with me. Wait to see what the union gets us, then get angry if it is not good enough. We pay the union to represent us, so let it do so.

Maybe because it has been over TWO F-ING YEARS. Maybe because of the insulting offer. It was not "just low"...it was an insult.

Wasn't it G4 who said, in regards to his present salary, that in his opinion he isn't worth that much? (I think someone else on these boards even has that as their tagline)

He must be creaming his pants at the company's current offer! 9% over 8 years with corresponding increases in our healthcare premiums and possible reductions in company retirement? What's not to like!! He'll be moving closer to what he thinks he's really worth!

A win for certain!

meh...I don't think most people here care that much anymore. If this rediculous sh!t hole goes under, so be it. Most of us wouldn't even notice. It's a misreable dead-end job anyway.

Of course, for a pathetic lifetime underachiever like G4, it's probably the best thing that every happened to him. Eventually he'll end up at a regional, where he belongs.

Yes, and as a UNION, advancement of the COLLECTIVE goals requires participation from all the members (or the vast majority).

Why so hostile? Because the majority are working towards a better CBA for all of us, including G4. So yes, it creates hostility when someone who has openly said they aren't going to lift a finger comes on a public board and asks questions about signing bonuses and what was the company's offer when all that info has either been put out to us, or is easily available from the union. He obviously just plans to ride the coattails of all the folks actually doing the work.

Imagine yourself digging a swimming pool, by hand, for your neighborhood to use. Most of the neighbors are there putting their backs into it. But there's a couple guys reclining in loungers, soaking up the sun and drinking drinks with little umbrellas in them, who periodically run over to the edge and ask how warm we plan on keeping the water temperature and will there be a slide. Would kind of irritate you, yes? And they also periodically tell you not to get so worked up because the pool planners will get it done, no need to work so hard (even when it's clear there's no progress except when everyone is digging). And even if you calmly try to explain the history of pool digging and how it works, one of the guys sitting in the lounger says, "Hey, my buddy sitting next to me here says there's no need to dig. Pools don't happen that way.". And the guys digging the pool say, "Okay, if you won't actually help dig the pool, how about donating a couple shovels?", to which our loungers reply, "Nah, we (the loungers) have been talking amongst ourselves and decided we need to just let the pool planners do their thing.". Why would that create any hostility?

If you can't figure it out, whatever.

As for this place being in business for us, don't worry about it. It won't fail because of labor.
