I have interviews with both. IF hired WWYD? I did some research, and on paper NetJets seems to be the better choice. However going back on this site just a few years back would indicate the CS was the no questions asked better choice. How do you guys make these types of decisions? At this point I'm hoping one hires me and the other does not.

Oh boy, here we go! Can't wait to see the all these posts. I personally like the fact that at NetJets we have union protection, overtime, holiday pay, and benefits at a better cost. People at CS will say that they don't need a union because they have a great relationship with management, even if totally true, it only takes one thing to destroy that relationship. Obviously if only offered one job, take it. However, if offered both just right down the pros and cons of each and make your decision. You will probably get some ideas for your list on this forum, but it is going to come down to what is right for you. Just trying to say that make sure for yourself what you read is correct before you make your decision.

NetJets.
Strong Union.
Bigger planes, bigger pay, 10 times bigger company.
NJA 401K 50% match up to 15%, vs 6% at CS

Just do a search on the forums.

A big part of your decesion should include where you live. CS has a huge number of bases whereas NJ only has a few. , but where you live, as in, do you want to commute, etc, is a big factor. If you live in a place where NJ and CS has a base, well, then, good luck! There are defintely pros and cons to each.

If you look at the whole aviation community, whether it be cargo, commuter, fractional, corporate, major, etc. what was the top choice several years ago, may be near the bottom now. So Netjets may be the best right now, but what about in five or ten years. No one knows.

Come over to us. Pay is better, S.U. protects you. It is a no brainer.

Or go with them, and fasten your seatbelt for the ride.

What scares me about NetJets is the "strong union" idea. All a strong union means to me is that highly educated CEO's are activily working to make the said union not so strong. Not saying this will happen at NJA, just something I think about. I remember a story about a Wal-Mart in Canada unionizing and the very next month was shut down becuase of "less than expected profit margins"

The "strong union" bolstered NJA's wages to such a degree that all Fractional pilots have benefitted as a result of NJA's wage increases (although FLOPS continues to languish). NJA's union is responsible for bringing respect back to the Fractional community (no longer viewed purely as a stepping stone) - you now have legacy airline pilots who are looking to get into NJA because of both the pay and the QOL/schedule.

Both are great companies but one is much larger than the other and offers a far greater variety of aircraft. Let us know how you do.

Thanks for all the valued input guys.

I work for Netjets. I wouldn't trade my seat for any flying job in the industry. Enough said.

Netjets...

Pros...
1. Size of company.
2. Size of fleet.
3. Berkshire Hathaway.
4. Union.
5. Medical.
6. 401k.
7. Marquis Jet.
8. Santulli.
....we do work long and tiring days, but they do not question fatigue calls.

Cons...
1. Limited Domiciles.
2. Starting pay. Higher than most, but still too low. (Maybe the arguement should be 2nd year pay and higher).

Happy here and not looking to leave.

Serious answer from current CS guys please. I'm in the upper third of the seniority list at CHQ and seriously thinking of a transition (4 years of airline flying is really burning me out with incompetent management, outright abuse and negligence of passengers and employees, rotting days away in PHL, ROC, etc.) I'm a divorced father active in my son's life so NJ isn't an option with the current base structure. Former freight dog who misses variety, and not afraid to smile, say "sir", load luggage etc.

Questions: what are costs of medical insurance for employee +1? Do you have many pilots who have made the RJ to CS transition? How competitive is 5000tt with 1300 121 PIC and 2 years of college (no bachelor's yet)? Are you able to specify your base? Based on APC my pay cut would be about 35 percent gross; how much per-diem do you typically use on the road? Opportunities for OT/extra flying? Thanks in advance.

I don't think I'd totally write NJ off. It seems to me a 7/7 schedule would be somewhat commuteable--of course depending on where you live. Plus, you can be flown home to whatever city you want (you pay the extra, if any) on your last day. Therefore, commuting NJ could come down to two one-way airline tickets (perhaps < $100 each) and two hotel rooms a month (?@$400?). Not the greatest deal, but still just a cost to be figured into the budget.

The Reserve NJ schedule, however, is not easily commuteable.
