I've been told November 8th...... Welcome aboard!

buddy of mine just got nov 15th..good luck to all!

Called yesterday for a Nov 15 class date. Interviewed Aug 10. Got the good news 2 weeks later. Finished the type Sep 24. So what's that? 3+ weeks in the pool? Good luck.

The rumor mill says the projected class schedule through Jan is as follows:

3 in Nov. (8,15,22)
2 in Dec (Don't know the dates)
4 in Jan (Don't know the dates)

This could all change. Just relaying the rumor.

In the pool, anyone know when the next Nov class is.

Dude, you can now change your screen name to something like "moneytoburn" or "blingthing"

Does anyone know how they select the applicants for an interview? Is it some computer software that picks the names? Got over 2200 pic, but I am seeing guys with less time and no types getting calls. Is it just a matter of waiting it out or is there anything that I can do to improve my chances. Thanks.

That makes about 600 for the year.

is everybody in the NOV classes so far from the AUG 28 DB? I wonder how many are in the pool ready to go. I was on the Sep 12 DB...wondering if DEC is more realistic than NOV as far as a class. Patience is not one of my stronger virtues : )

Hey puddlejumper...I was in the Sep 12 DB as well.

A military friend of mine is in the Nov 8th class. He was hired back in June but was not available until Nov. I have a similar situation in that I'm not available until next April.

You'll probably be on the line well before I even start training!

Info

Sounds like the 8th is full based on guys are being given the 15th. I've been told by a chief pilot that only 2 classes in nov and 3 in dec. Good source. I would bet that some openings in the 15th, but like you I was 12 sept db board so I'm expecting early dec.

Thanks for the info. I just left a meeting with Rebekah Krone at Higher Power this morning and she answered all my questions. Thanks again!

I was lucky enough to have interviewed last week. Gary from the SWA People dept confirmed they are aiming for 3 classes in Nov, 2 in Dec and 4 in Dec. Classes have ~20 / class. They are cranking through the interviewees at a rate of ~24 / day (we had 22 last week). Hiring boom is an understatement. To help add some gas to the fire, they are interviewing folks w/o a type. I'd guess to say about a quarter of us in our group last week were without. If you're a fit for them after the interview, the hire is contingent upon successfully completing an approved course w/in 6 months. Hope the info helps! I also hope I can sleep over the next few weeks awaiting the next decision board. Good luck to all.

I couldn't believe it, I interviewed last week and only 3 out the the 24 interviewed had the type. Also, I stayed at the same hotel the new hire class was at and the next day they all looked a little "tired" from the welcome reception. hahahaha! Looked like good ol' SWA fun! One of the guys suggested aquiring a taste for Wild Turkey shots.

Starting the week of Christmas we are starting a class a week for 5 weeks. That's 100 to 120 pilots in 5 weeks!!!!!! That's not counting the classes between now and them.

I don't know what's going on but I'd say Gary Kelly is gonna find some more airplanes from somewhere. Pretty exciting times.

Exciting or desperate times

Gary may be feeling the pressure of semi-poor earnings and has decided it is time to grow or shrink. Let's pump up the pilot pipeline and aircraft orders so we can reduce capital expenditures. Luv SWA but am a bit concerned given weak 3rd qtr results, hopefully just a short term hiccup. Herc

What's pay while in training?
