Do you have a pulse? Do you know what the hell a yoke looks like? Then Mesaba is looking for you! News mins published today per XJ memo 7-18 are 600TT/50ME. Flight instructing, here I come....

Heard that its not as simple as if you have the mins your in. Seems like a lot of the guys with that low of time will come from some sort of bridge program. But then again what do i know?

So there is an upside to being a few year FO, after all. We'll just let those ultra senior jet captains do all that training.

Sweet. They first make almost every furloughed pilot go back to the Saab and fly more 7 & 8 leg days. Now the guys getting the CRJ900 will have these mins?

So, which will be the first regional to have the balls to increase pay, in order to attract new pilots? Hmmm.... Maybe that's just wishfull thinking?

Hi!

They already have been increasing their pay.

Pinnacle now pays in training, they pay perdiem, and they provide lodging during training. They used to do none of the above, + they had a training contract for low time guys.

Now they are calling guys at 10PM on a Sat, and inviting guys over age 60, that have never applied, in for an interview.

BULL SH_T to the calling the dude that was over 60. He was just Jealous for trying to play himself off as 50. Just like American Idol!

No, I'm talking real, permanent pay increases to the payscales. Not just per diem for a month, etc.

Personally I think all the regionals are currently engaged in a giant game of chicken with each other to see who can lower their mins the most before they decide they need to raise pay.

Seven, were you not the one who was always criticizing 9E for hiring low time? I told you 10 Months ago that you would be doing the same thing! You disagreed if I remember correctly.

100 hours instrument with only 600 total... That is a heck of a steep ratio considering, at a minimum, better than 1/3 of that total time is spent doing training VFR. Maybe they meant flown under IFR for 100 hours. Otherwise I don't see how anyone has that much actual at 600.

You are right. I had higher hopes for Mesaba. They always had seemed to have higher standards for hiring. Not anymore. They have hit the bottom.

When you can't bring them in you have to go lower. This is just the beginning, eventually the guy siting next to you will have no real flight experience at all. The company will task you with the responsibility of making sure these guys receive proper training. If you think this job is bad right now, just wait till they bring the adopt a pilot program to the FO's.

So if folks with ....um..."trouble" with English pronounce Flagship as "flaa sheep" what will Mesaba sound like??

listen up, and hear this. I am in no way saying its a good thing that the mins are being lowered. I cannt agree with it, but thenext time you get on a NWA wide body............he might be one of those they hired with less time than that XJ is asking for! yes, NWA would give a contract of hire to a guy that had just promised to get his Multi-commercial! Some guys were hired with like 300 hours! Its ben done before, and by our most sought after majors..................oh yes, Continetal just gave a 300 hour woman a hiring scholarship.............so there you go!

Hey Seven Just think you'll become an IOE capt for these low time guys. Then the words will hear from you FO is dude this dude that dude I see your point.

Now that we have big daddy as our corporate overloard, the solution to any possible staffing problems is very very simple: Give XJ pilots NW seniority numbers. Then, there will be no staffing problems, nor any scope issues.

Will the furloughed guys who still havent made it to recurrent class get a paycheck when they start hiring these new pilot wonders?

Example: My class date could be something like April 30th. The first new hire class could start on March 25th. Do I start receiving a paycheck on March 25?

Do I also have to quit my current position of employment BEFORE March 25 or could I continue to work in my present position until my official class date and collect 2 paychecks for a short amount of time?

Sorry if this is a little off subject.....and I don't mean to sound like a cheap ass, but if it is no big deal I really need the extra money!

From what I understand there should not be ANY new hires in class before all returning furloughs are alloted class. There may be a class with a mix but after that it's all new hires. As for getting a class date after the April 2 class date, that's what I am hoping for because, yes you can "double dip" then

wmusigpi - Where do you currently work, and apparently you are intending on returning too?....if you don't mind me asking.

I doubt they will give you a pay check before you start class. So I don't think you will be able to double dip. When I was recalled at my last job payroll began the 1st day of class or being available to fly.
