New Colgan pay scale is out. 2nd year Fo pay up to 26 first year q400 52.11. I was going to say something if it was 52 or below. That 11 cents just shut me up.

This is good news - the race for regionals to pay more so they can get the last remaining flight instructors is on.

wow, that 11 cents is awesome. too bad 2nd yr capt pay is less than pcl get to fly 50 seaters. 2nd yr pay went up a good bit, especially for the beech guys. 52.11 is first yr capt pay for the q400. 2nd yr is 54.68, 3rd yr is 56.35. At least we beat lynx, lol

I think thats what it's sayin. I'm going to ask in the conference call tomorrow. some of this wording is tricky. MAybe it's just my 8th grade edumacation

52.11 for first year Q400 CA? Are you kidding me? Pinnacle gets 55/hr for a 50-seat RJ and Horizon pays 65/hr for a first year Q400 CA. I wouldn't be too happy about the "new" payrates. Realistically you should really be somewhere between 60-65. This is why a union would really help you guys out. Phil can just tell you what he is willing to pay at this point.

nobody said we were happy. A union wouldn't have done crap even if they were on property the day we were bought out. A contact takes years to ratify, and we didn't have that luxury.

I'm glad your not happy, and a contract does not take years to ratify. Vote a union in and start negotiating for payscales you actually deserve. Just a suggestion. The payscales I see so far are exactly as I expected from these low ball managers.

Look at the difference between say 52.11 vs. 60/hr. It works out to 7800 dollars per CA that Phil will put right in his pocket. There is absolutely no reason for them to treat you like this, they could, and should, pay a reasonable wage. Good luck guys.

dang, I was only a $.10 off my prediction! Freaking joke of a payrate, but glad for the F/Os.

Lets hope the q400 doesn't come with ACARS...i'll make it up to them da m n it. Better yet I'll stay on the SAAB and make it up to them.

Someone just E mailed me the rates first year is low but the next year has a better increase then usual for Colgan. If you use the old Colgan 1.50 per year rate it is like first year is $54 because $60 is 5th year. Even with that $ 54 is to low for that airplane. On the good side the beech fos are now the highest around.

makes we wonder how many senior captains will go to the q for an extra 10 bucks an hour. Most of them live in the base they want, have a good sched and come home everynight. THats a lot to give up. I can't believe they want 3200 hrs to upgrade to the q400. That pretty much stops current saab/beech fo's from going to the q until they upgrade and do a year in the saab/beech.

I am in the top seven on the Beech FO seniority wise. I will NOT upgrade in the Beech. They are going to be parked sooner than people think.

Yup, all the current Beech pilots are screwed, why train newhires to go into an airframe on the way out, that would just increase training costs. As the airframes go, Beech pilots will transition in the order they came in, only to be seat-locked for a year and given a new 6 month training contract.....:smash:

If I read the memo correctly, I will be able to upgrade to Saab captain if my seniority allows for that.

If that is the case, I wouldn't have to much to complain about.

But,

They are probably not going to let you go until they don't need you for the Beech. They are probably going to ask you to man the sinking ship...why train new hires for the Beech, then train them again for another plane.

The only way I cant see that happening is if the Beeches are taken off line over night.....which is unlikely

You being so high in seniority probably dont have to worry much about that, but the guys on the lower half might get stuck until all the frames are gone

I knew that the dreaded "seat-lock" was going to rear it's ugly head as soon as I read the Q-400 deal was offically announced. It's somewhat humorous that managment still insists as late as 21 Feb, "everything is fine, and nothing is changing" (too much..YEAH, RIGHT!). I am not a "naysayer" either. Things are still going to be very good for alot of folks that could care less about the Q-400 and want to live in domicile and upgrade on the SAAB. In point of fact, there are alot more opportunities on that equipment than any other at this point...CJC is HURTING badly for SAAB F/Os, so I think that many Beech F/Os with the time might very well find themselves in the left seat of the SAAB and one nice payraise. As for the low-timers on both equipment there is an opportunity to fly the "Q" as an F/O or wait out the SAAB/Beech upgrade. There is alot of speculation about the fate of the Beech. I've not heard any really firm answers, but some good theories...The best one I've heard was to keep them thru summer of 07', earn the big payday in the northeast tourist locales; HYA, ACK, BHB, RKD, MVY feeding BOS and LGA and park them all by spring of 08'.
I think that the payscale(s) were a compromise, and Colgan managment had a choice of trying to retain a higher percentage of F/Os with better pay, or sacrifice the future and pay big money on the "Q". I think that they did the right thing, BUT having said that...If indeed Colgan's pilots rise to the occasion (and they will) and kick ass operating the "Q". The pilots will want a raise in 09' at the latest. IF Colgan/Pinnacle Mgt. doesn't see this and doesn't follow thru...To hell with them, because they are cutting off their nose to spite their face for a few bucks. And, not doing the job that the stockholders are paying the board of directors to do.

Did I see the wrong paysacle I thought a 5th year captain got about $ 15 more dollars an hour. Is it true that fos can transition to the Q?
