Every time I see a new posting that "Airtran Announces New Service" I get my hopes up that the good ole' STL will be there.......but alas, it's not to be....

I just recently read where they announced a service expansion in IND again slated for next month. I guess they apparently want to pick up where ATA left off. Seems to be working out for them...............

Fly safe.
Schmooze

Delta's fares went from over 300.00 to 59.00 from atlanta to daytona. They won't be able to afford the generals snap back pay.

ATA "left off" over a year ago. NWA chased us out, but then they lost their a$$es as well.

Everyone in IND wants to go to Florida, Vegas or Mexico. They don't care who takes them (hence no loyalty to IND based airlines), as long as it's cheap.

Hi!

I don't think NWA is losing money in IND, because they're on a big expansion of service out of IND.

Yeah, I agree. I do still hear a a lot of pax saying how they wished ATA still flew into Indy. Many say that this actually caused fares to increase for flights in and out of IND.

With AirTran now a major player in the picture, it should be interesting to see what will be NWA's next move, and most of all, who will be the last man standing. There already seems to be a little competition between these two carriers routes to Florida, LAX and SFO.

Otherwise, people are still hearing rumors of an AirTran hub in IND. Most don't see it happening, but in these days, who knows?

Fly safe.

Yes, but they just increased the GSO fares and the GSO airport manager is mad, complaining that the fares there are too high. Even the mayors of the three cities up there signed a petition to try to get them lowered. Thanks to Airtran for leaving GSO......it should make up for DAB, until Airtran leaves....

You know its funny how Delta follows us around and copies our every move. It started with MLI-MCO then BMI-MCO then BOS-PHF now BOS-MDW. Trying to cash in with 50 seat RJ's

Delta to launch nonstop Midway service

Delta Air Lines Inc. is challenging AirTran Airways with nonstop service from Logan International Airport to Midway Airport in Chicago starting Jan. 11.
Delta will offer three daily round trips, plus two on weekends, for initial promotional fares of $138, plus taxes and fees -- about $10 less than AirTran fares.
Delta's website showed fares of $168 and $198 for March and April dates. AirTran's three daily Logan-Midway flights are the only non-stop runs to the south suburban Chicago airport available in Boston. Delta's service will be on 50-seat Bombardier regional jets operated by its Comair affiliate.
Flights are to leave from Boston weekdays at 6:35 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4:35 p.m. and from Midway at 8:55 a.m., 3:20 p.m., and 6:55 p.m., Delta said. AirTran flights leave within roughly an hour of each of those, for typical January fares of $148 round-trip, according to its website.

Im a furloughed DAL guy...bu...my thoughts are yes it is....we are also changing up our schedules to fly an earlier and later flight...but I tell my recalled buds..there's more to it than that....when I called our res line to get myself a positive space ticket with my discount...I was on hold for 45 min one night and couldn't get through the entire next night (busy). I finally said hell with it...went to Airtran's site, got a ticket for $214 ($200 LESS than what I would have paid with my discount) and then upgraded to Bus class on 2 legs for a whopping $70. THAT'S what the public wants.....

Say it again but slowly this time so the private can understand you.

I prefer talking to a guy named Rupi in India for an hour trying to explain who I am and where I would like to go.

Bye Bye--General Lee

I fly under the Northwest system, but every now and then have to call Delta to list or check loads. At first I joked about them being in India, but now I realize it's no joke. Every time I call, the guy has a hard time understanding me. I can't believe that Delta would stoop this low. There is no customer service from the India location. I can't imagine how this pisses off the flying public. I wouldn't put something like this past Northwest because they tend to be cheap all the way around, but Delta? That hurts.

It seems more often when I talk to customer service I speak to someone in India. I love when talking to customer no service people in India when, in an Indian accent, "Hi thank you for calling __________ my name is Bob how can I help you?" I didn't know there were so many Indians with names like Bob, Jim, etc.

I think you are dead on about this one. Now if we could just do something about how our average gate agent in Atlanta treats our customers...

I think one of the hiring requirements for ATL gate agents is that they have to have recently suffered the death of their favorite puppy. I've never seen a bunch of bigger sour-pusses in my life. Oh wait...anyone in the service industry in Memphis is worse.

How about basic command of the English language (no Ebonics) and someone that doesn't have that ATL ghetto attitude.

The hiring pool in the ATL is huge, however, it's not very deep. On the big D's behalf though, I got an email today apologizing for the delays out of ATL due to the runway construction. Even though it was written by an Indian, I had to only imagine the Indian accent while I was reading it instead of actually having to hear it.

Your absolutely right! I gots to work on my dialect don't ya know. Next time I fly with "Sister Act III" (Latrina, Shakeema, and LaWanda) I'll see if they won't be willing to spend a little time helping with my cultural translations and proper delivery.
