Boy, I never saw that one coming... See below, if what your saying is true I was only off by 3 years. Just three years SOONER than I predicted... It's almost as if I was actually at the meeting.

I'm guessing it was something along the lines of, "don't sweat it, we strung those guys (read: IBT) along for years and it'll be a LONG time (read: forever) before you'll start paying union dues. So just do business as usual and we'll figure out a way to weasel out of the NJI provisions of this TA well before any of you start wearing those goofy union pins... We're just hoping they don't come to their senses and reject this TA because we really feel like we got away with murder... The only downside is Mr. Buffett is pi$$ed that we didn't break the IBT, but we never thought they'd actually accept this B.S."

That had to be about the gist of it, probably lasted about 5 minutes before they all hit the lunch buffet. He probably gave the NJI guys a raise just for spite.

Details are that Management wont agree to terms reference NJI that were agreed to last week. Expects anyone flying for NJI to waive his right to Union protection. IE FIRED AT WILL OF NJI....

At this point, the rumors that you have seen have merit. All but one specific item has been completed. Unfortunately, that particular item pertains to Union protections under the grievance process for our crewmembers who bid to the NJI side. In essence, we refuse to allow our Union members to be subjected to some type of NJI Kangaroo court possibility. These types of items, ESPECIALLY WHEN WE HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO ENSURE THE COMPANY UNDERSTANDS THAT THESE PROTECTIONS WERE NOT NEGOTIABLE, are obviously show-stoppers to any agreement

I read that. All he says is that they are still finalizing the language (with this one item to go) and then he explains why this language is so important (which it is). They've been working on finalizing the language for a week or so now (we were even told last week that they still had some cleanup left to do) so there doesn't seem to be any new information here. I'm sure that most of the language that had been finalized over the past week would have been a "deal breaker" had it not been finalized. Nowhere have I seen ANY communication from the union leadership that says the company has backed out of the deal. This appears (at least right now) to be something that is being taken by a couple individuals and being blown way out of proportion.

It looks like events are changing rapidly and everyone is blaming the lawyers. There may be progress yet. As everyone can well imagine there is a lot of emotion invested here. And please stop calling the NJI episode a seat grab - it is about making someone live up to their word. Most NJA folks - especially we older ones - are not impressed by or could give a good flip about a G. First time I saw one in the 70s I was impressed by how small it was. Deal is back together, NJI stuff was finalized today. I don't know all the details of the LOA but it is now complete.

The NJI LOA is a deal breaker because it is to protect our future as well as level the playing field. Why should we be told what we can't have while NJI is getting it.

It's not a big deal to me. Like someone said, I get tired just looking at a G. It is a big deal to some though. Santulli promised it. They want it. It is a matter of him keeping his word.

On another note. We just want to be treated like NJI. If FFH is good enough for them, why not for us? Why have we waited for four years for that benifit. Little Ricky promised us that five years ago and reneged. Seems Little Ricky is NOT a man of his word. In fact his word isn't worth a puddle of spit.

Scope, scope and scope. It is job protection after all. That is a big deal.
