I still expect and have recently heard more rumors about an enhanced retirement incentive package that would be offered to pilots closer to traditional retirement age. That would spread pilot force reductions over a wider area and blunt retraining costs. This is one rumor I really hope is true.

Your third point above is very true. It's easy to see why Mr. Santulli would want to avoid that if possible. The rumors sound logical to me and if that is your wish then I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, GSD...
I just hope the rumor is true because it would be the best thing for the company and the majority of the pilot group. I'm still a couple of decades away from retirement so the only change for me would be to move up the VSL a bit. Since I'm inside 500, it wouldn't affect me a whole lot. A retirement incentive package would spread pilot reductions over all the fleets and allow a few more junior guys to see the left seat a little bit sooner.
