Under the new TA...if you are "based" somewhere that does not have airline service (i.e. BED, VNY, TEB) are there enough NetJets airplanes of all fleet types going in and out of these airports on a regular basis or should you expect to end up in a cab to/from BOS, BUR, or EWR regularly?
If the TA passes, is there still going to be a large portion of pilots "grandfathered" into airports outside of the 100 listed?
Also - as far as your airline tickets - do you have to get your own, then get reimbursed, or is it all set up for you?
BLACKBERRIES!?!? WTF?!? That does it. I thought I wanted to work for NetJets, but if I wanted to carry one of those things around, I'd just stay in the military and take a staff job... Or try to make O-5.
Please, God, is there any other way? Can I just make a regular old-fashioned phone call?
What about TSA? I'm assuming that since you're not 121 you're subject to the same rules as a regular passenger right?
Yes, we are like regular passangers, however, most airports still let us through the employee lines with the same policy as 121.
Does everyone check their luggage for the most part, or can you carry it on with the liquids since you're in uniform? 7 days man, I'd be carrying my whole medicine cabinet.![]()
I am TSA compliant and carry my bags with me. Some check and some only check at the known airports that don't let us carry liquids.
Electronic flight bags there?
They are currently testing a lot of different platforms.
One last question and I'll leave you guys alone... what about parking at your home airport? Do they take care of it like you're an employee, do you eat the cost, or do you eat it and they reimburse you?
If the IBB passes (probably will) you will be responsible for your own parking. However, most airports you can park at the FBO's for free and they will give you a ride over.
Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate it.[/]
There are 127 pilots using a base that is not listed in the new base system
I believe he meant that there are 127 pilots that aren't at any of the IBB 100 bases. There are over 200 HBA airports for pre 2005 contract pilots and the 127 are spread out among the ones that aren't on the list of 100.
Hi!
SafeSix: U can always use that Blackberry to make the phone call!
A Blackberry-type device IS needed in an operation like NetJets, and many other aviation organizations.
I have gotten my flight plan via Blackberry and left. I much prefer that to waiting several hours to find a fax machine somewhere that works, to get a flight plan so we can leave (no ACARS).
I also recently used the BB to make a number of phone calls out of Mexico. The capt's phone did not work in Durango. It saved our customer about 20", and it saved us a lot of aggravation. 20" is a long time to many of our customers.
