What if....we vote this IBB down and the company then opens 5 more Domiciles (ORD, DEN, ATL, STL, SFO), and leaves the pay as is, would you guys be happy with that?

YUP!!!!!!

After speaking to a number of pre-rat folks this tour, many are hoping for this very scenario for many reasons.

There is no way that is going to happen.

This will pass. You will be making Falcon Class IV pay while flying the Excel... and using the same HBA you use now.

Your FO will get a raise and fly from close to home.

Actually, NJ pilots can affect the finances of other NJ families by voting for or against the pay raise.
The problem is, pay (and basing) are not the only items in the proposal. So to say pilots would be voting against the pay raise is rather disingenuous. If I vote no, it will be a combination of items that add up to a no vote, not simply pay and basing. Unfortunately, there are about 600 folks that won't be able to see past those 2 sections.

From what I've seen and heard of the proposal, if it were presented without an extension to the amendable date I'd most likely vote yes. But extending it 2 years changes the landscape of the changes - even pay. An 11% increase isn't so hot when compared with the increase in the cost of living over 5 years. Add 11% with our 2010 amendable date, and now we're talkin'! That covers COLA for the remaining 3 years. The other question is how much are the longevity increases? If less than 3% per year, we are maintaining our standard of living, or even losing ground every year. I could live with it for the next 3 years (as we have to now), but maybe not for 5+.

Lots more to consider and vote on than simply increases in FO pay and basing.

I think you're seriously underestimating the intelligence and reading ability of those of us hired post-contract.

I'll be evaluating the whole proposal, as will most of us.

It seems there are a few assumptions regarding a no vote on IBB meaning a new contract in 2010. Who's to say it won't go a year or two before an agreement is reached next time around? That would screw up some of the math around here.

Take a look at the people predicting pass/fail. I have yet to see a post-rat predict a failure to pass. Coincidence? I think not.

The same reasoning applies to 2012.

Fair enough, although I hardly think a voluntary poll on a message board, with votes from about 1% of the pilots, is indicative of how the group as a whole is thinking.

So how are you leaning, just out of curiosity?

Don't know yet; still waiting on the whole package.

But if you're asking how I'd vote based solely on the two sections I've seen the drafts of, I can't see any downside and would vote "yes" if that were all we were voting on. But it isn't.

Without seeing the whole thing, I can't really answer your question. I'll let ya know in the morning. ;)

Cpt1900 You really think it will be out this am? I know you'll be reading it. :)

Heck just ask NJW she'll give you the full details. Or just the only sections she thinks there is hba's and pay.

Started to, but I gotta go to work!

Not sure I like enough of what I see... steps forward in some aspects, but steps back in others. It's going to be an interesting flight today; my partner's an IOE guy. I need to find a printer before we go fly.......

Diesel, please stop stating my opinion for me (incorrectly at that) I'm quite capable of speaking for myself... For example, I'm very interested in reading all the details about PTO. It sounds like it will be good for families like mine. There are more events my husband doesn't want to miss then there are times that he is sick so a system that recognizes the need to plan accordingly sounds good to us. The 15 day schedule also sounds like it might work well for pilots with young children that think a week is too long for dad to be gone. We might give it a try and use the extra money for remodeling projects.

My previous posts were made from the perspective of judging the contract for overall progress for the most pilots/families. Pay and basing are broad category issues that can be discussed generally. Schedules, work rules, etc are subjective. While I can guess what might appeal to others, it's a much safer bet that almost everyone will be interested in ten$ of thousand$ of dollars (most NJ pilots need the money) and that those stuck in 5 domiciles will benefit greatly from a choice of 100 bases.

No matter how pilots ultimately vote, just having the opportunity to make more money and get another signing bonus only two years after the last one is a good deal that none of the other frac pilots have. That alone is a reason to be appreciative. My thanks to all who worked on bringing us the TA!
