I fear that this is exactly what they are up to. Fred Reid is the worst thing that has happened to this company. He has/is doing more damage than the economy has.

You are correct about the rumor mill and pilots, but are you also not a girl spreading this gossip. I work here and have not heard anything about your speculations until you anonymously posted this hearsay for everyone else to worry about.

I betcha the training slots are to upgrade/checkride all remaining FOs to CAs as neccessary so Flex can get around the captain heavy seniority list costing that's costing them way too much $$. What plan are you talking about? If you mean the imaginary plan that you developed on your own please keep it to yourself. There are too many people worried about real life happenings than your assumptions.

Fair enough I guess but I didn't start this thread or spread anything. All I said was look at the revisions you got for your FOM just last week and then made an educated guess -- much different than what you are assuming. Go ahead and tow the flexjet line, attack the messenger, refuse to work on real solutions, fight a union drive at all costs, wait in line for the other shoe to drop or whatever esle y'all have been unsuccessfully doing for years that has got over 100 of your fellow pilots furloughed or downgraded with more screwing to follow and remember at least I had the chops to care enough to at least bring a conversation to the table. More than most unfortunatly...

That being said, I don't trust anything anyone says on the line, from the office or on this message board. We have always needed unity and representation as a group. This is coming from one of the evil 200. We are all in this together and spread throughout the seniority there are people taking overtime and on the junior side acting as CAFOs. I might disagree with some choices, but I do not know the individuals situation. It takes a very weak and chickenS##T person that will spread rumors or villainize an individual or group anonymously. Ironicly these same people think they are acting any better than those they ridicule.

In looking at your history you seem to make a habit of attacking those who dare say anything even remotely critical of management despite the facts that they are usually right. Whatever. Go back to your desk at the waterview and figure out how to put lipstick on the pig FR's about to sell and get real.

I might be wrong -- hope to God I am. But this does concern my family, so keep your cooments about needless worry in check. When my husbands job is on the line nothing is needless worry.

since i work at NJA i usually only post on threads dealing with my company. I have very little knowledge of the workings of flex, flops, or CS thus I don't bother to comment on their particular situations.

having said that, a general observation comes to mind reading these threads. I believe some have a fundamental misunderstanding of what a union on the property can or can't do. a union doesn't guarantee bad things won't happen. it won't guarantee good things will happen. what a union does IS guarantee the pilots who always seem to bear the brunt of the whole good/bad scenario have a voice in the process and aren't completely at the mercy of management. for the life of me I'll never understand why pilots who train their entire lives to be masters of the aircraft they fly - are content to let others be masters of their career.

But why would they need initial training slots for the CAFOs? Doesn't make sense. If a guy's typed, current and qualified in, say, a 45, as a captain, he doesn't need retraining.

You only need initial if you're new to an aircraft, or if you've been out of it for two years or more.

And for an FO to act as a captain, all he or she needs is a .299 ride, which can be done out on the line, right? No need for initial training slots to handle that.

Which brings us back to the original question. Why would the training center be told to reserve a bunch of initials?

So it would be safe to say they are also not likely for recalls? Or am I missing something? I would love nothing more than for it to be recalls or globals but the FAA list of pending TNs for globals show no FX tail #a but maybe I am looking at it wrong -- those type numbers can be confusing. For the longest time BA100s (cl30) were so dependent on different input variations to get an accurate count.

So, what are all the possibilies, both possible and stretching? Unlike notapilot I want my family prepared for both the good and bad...

The problem is when speculation gets twisted into false truths. It is funny when someone disagrees they are always said to be connected to the office. I am very prepared for many different possibilities. I choose to manage my preparations with factual knowledge and sound decision making.

Notapilot -- I thought some of your previous posts eluded to you working at WV not on the line -- sorry if I misunderstood. But I do want to say regarding your comments on anonymous posting that #1 I must have missed the post where you stated your name and other identifying info. #2 that sometimes only truth comes out when people don't fear recrimination & #3 one only needs to look at the example of that Bailey guy who was denied the same benefits/leeway with leave they have afforded dozens of other guys simply because he was vocal with no apologies on this board and other places about the need for a union.

Steelersrule -- agree 100% I think that's actually what most people in support of a union desire -- a voice. There have to be cuts and concessions but it sucks when you are not even given the semblance of input. I don't know if management got bonuses or not but the impression that the pilot group is the only sector really taking the hits helps no one in the end.

You are missing the point. Like I said my previous messages were not completely directed at you. I don't think there is anything wrong with anonymous discussion. When I start individually calling people out by name/initials or attacking a specific group of people I will be sure to include my name until then you will only get my initials, FR. : )

Management at Flex can do whatever they want right now. 50% pay cut, more layoffs, etc. There is a good reason why Fred was brought in, and we're finally seeing it now. Watching some of the meetings that they have up on the bluebelly makes me sick to my stomach. Time will tell, I wish everyone there the best.

Sorry, dude, but in a climate of mistrust and fear like that which exists at Flexjet at this hour, rumor mills are bound to flourish. And, unfortunately, in most of our experience this past year or so, the ugly rumors have always been borne out by really, really bad management moves.

If they are cooking something up, I'd much rather have some inkling of it, rather than be blindsided by it while I'm out on the line, when I get a call informing me that I've been booked on the next flight home.

This, essentially, is what happened to a good number of those who are now on the street, and it's a shabby, dehumanizing way to treat anyone, especially someone who went through what we went through to get here.

We deserve better. Unfortunately, a good number of us still seem to believe this is as good as it can get.
