Growth for Delta would be great! But the MOST important thing is these planes will not say " Connection " on the side.

Most everyone probably heard this already.

Bring on more MD-88/90s!!!!

Hey...as often as things change, repeat info doesn't hurt anything. Just gives us a current peek that the game plan hasn't changed.

As a guy planning on heading to MSP, thanks for posting!

Is there a fairly large mix of locals/commuters there?

Just curious if you think there will be a fair amount jumping ship to SLC & LAX.

How bout DCI pilots starting a 90for90for90 campaign? That would make Delta profitable finally.

Also from the third floor in Eagan, which isn't the source of all the good info as it used to be but most are confirming: MD88/90s to MSP and A319/20s to SLC. When/How/Why? The answer I get is "soon."

The why part of the equation is MD-88/90 can do east/west out of MSP but not east out of SLC very well. The MD can do both coasts from MSP, and ditto for the A319/320 out of SLC. Most everyone probably heard this already.

Bring on more MD-88/90s!!!!

Sounds similar to the way the -90 was used in DFW for many years.

DTW is more of a commuter base. MSP has locals who will not be moving(married the Minnesota girl). However, among the group that does commute to MSP, I would say most commute from the west: CA, AZ, SEA. I really don't think there will be initially enough slots open in LAX and SLC, so it will take a while for the west coast MSP commuters to move in.

No wonder they're losing money. Buying more gas hogs.

Whats the burn rate on an MD90 and how does it compare to an "efficient" airliner? thanks for the clarification since you're obviously very informed.

It is definitely more economical than the RJ you are flying! It costs significantly less per seat-mile. Plus the thing costs around 1/5th the price of an RJ. And it does not say CONNECTION on the side. Thanks for your concern though.

Let's see.... CRJ-200. ~2500-3000 lbs an hour for 50 pax.

757-200.... ~7000 lbs an hour for 184 pax.

MD-90.. ~5500-6000 an hour for 150 pax.

Who's the gas hog?
