Mindset of the typical US Airways east pilot?

Is there a Candid Camera or MTV Punk'd episode coming up, because I cannot imagine this being for real. Check out the email address at the end of the letter. [email protected]? That has to be a joke, or the writer is the biggest tool this side of the Atlantic.
 
Hope I get to fly with that gem. Sounds like one of those guys that would make you feel like a trouser stain because you weren't an f-15 pilot. Right off that bat i'm in big trouble because i wear corrective lenses and was not in the military. I'm not fit to shine that mans boots.

It's not a joke. James Anderson also has a restraining order against him from his second ex-wife. The best is he's still the primary suspect in the miser of a Sesttle assistant DA. No joke. Google it. He's also an FFDO. Time to scrap the program.
 
I've flown with military guys in both seats at AWA. Vietnam F-4 guys. Academy grads, Gulf War A-10 guys, guard F-16 guys you name it. I can only think of one offhand that I didn't care to fly with, the rest were awesome. Most of the tools I've flown with(damn few) were civilian commuter guys like me.

I remember one guy in particular, Jim H, who flew F-4s in Vietnam. Here I was, just a 30 year old commuter guy, and old Jim was a prince. Treated me and everyone else like gold.

The letter writer is not worth paying any attention to. He stands out on his own, just like he would on any property.

Fact:

US Airways twice bankrupt would have been GONE had it not merged AWA.

AWA saved US Airways and they are now where they are today with AA because of AWA. This is an overly arrogant letter. Nowhere does he talk about integrity. If was a judge, I'd question him: Why didn't you accept a binding arbitration award when you agreed to binding arbitration in the first place?

And his talk about AWA pilots never in their dreams could have flown as international widebody CAs to Europe making $200k? No offense but Piedmont was mostly 727s and 737s with a couple 767s to LGW that started in 1987 just two years before the merger. Piedmont stand-alone would not have permitted him to do what he is claiming either.

What's particularly disappointing about this mindset is that somewhere along the line rather than being the absolute best you can be it became more important to be better than others, whoever they are.
 
I'm not a usapa cheerleader but come on flyer your statements make you look as silly as the letter writer. Us air was going down the tubes yes but to view awa as a savior is nonsense. Where was awa going? You guys were a nice little regional airline in the southwest. You both needed each other. You were both going nowhere fast.

You mean because they flew 747s across the Pacific? There are US east pilots who probably couldn't even get a 747 started (as proven by their own CA that threw a fit when she couldn't start an APU and had to be escorted from the terminal by airport security)

Not defending/accusing anyone here, but do you know the entire story, or do you simply copy and paste news stories on this board, just to satisfy your anger? I still remember how you accused an east crew of letting a fake pilot ride the jumpseat without knowing the entire details (which were btw distributed by USAPA's propaganda blast mail). I assume you have been in this business long enough to know that there are usually two sides to a story, and that there is a ~10% of oddballs (or whatever you wanna call it) of any group. (Count me in if you want!)

I don't have a dog in this fight, but the good Capt A isn't fit to sit right seat in an Key Lime Navajo.

He demands respect and has a ridiculous sense of entitlement but I can GUARANTEE that this ace of aces wouldn't last a day in the lowly world of pt135 box hauling; a job that is no doubt beneath him anyway.

This guy is a joke. If he lost his medical or USAir wasn't rescued, what would this clown have been qualified to do?

If USAir was saved by a bunch of underlings that could only hack it at a bush league airline, what does that say about the good Capt A and his clean cut, high flying band of merry wingmen?

I'm sure he's an extreme case, but good lord...

AWA wasn't in nearly as much troble as US Airways was. Airways was on the verge of liquidation. AWA's future was no different or brighter than JetBlue/Alaska. AWA would have found someone else to merge with and still be okay.
 
I can imagine how this letter got written

Capt. - Hey James, don't you think you should wait until we get out of 10,000 to break out the laptop. or at least until the flaps are up/

Anderson - I'm writing Judge Silver a letter telling her how we deserve to be put ahead of all the west pilots on the basis of our professionalism

Capt. - That's great but the tower is calling saying they saw sparks from the tail as we rotated.

Anderson - Hell, they said that when we landed! They must hate these A321's!

Capt. - Yeah, James, you make a pretty convincing argument. I guess we are the best of the best. Oh, damn, we were supposed to cross XXXXX at 12 and 250!!
