Midwest Rampers in OMA were telling me that Mesa was the leading contender for the flying(from the President of the CO.), and that they would be staffed with Skyways FA's. Kind of a weird combination, but thats what I heard. This news is about a week old, so things could have changed by now....
Rampers?????

Does anyone know if there was any other airlines other than AWAC or XJT that got a RFP for the 25 airplanes worth of flying???

Did you ever get that class at Lakes?

not a chance on a class...unless we have another mass exodous circa 2004 post delta flop. Ande we all know that the rampers are the keepers of the secrets.

I think that Midwest will have to renew the 1900s leases before they expire: they can't afford not to as they try to get financing on a few Airbuses to replace the MD80s.

In the meantime the 1900s are just so cheap to operate that no bidder out there will be able to match the low operating costs and work load of the current 1900 fleet.

Ahh, but can you say the words "Great Lakes"? Rumors were they were interested in some 'Chicago flying' again. Sad but true their pay is the same as when I did my tour with them in 2000-2002 (FO 1st yr $15, CA 1st yr $25).

and then GLA can cancel everyother flight from MBL and IMT and IWD because it's dark and less than perfect wx.

Spoke with the Skyway MEC chairman about 2 days ago as I was riding home from PIT. After he expressed his displeasure of people coming in to steal there flying we got to talk about the bid. He stated that it looked like it was shaping out to be a 12 a/c bid. 6 in mke, 6 in mci. He stated that the top 2 contendures were AWAC and Pinnacle. I find it hard to believe that Pinnacle is in it at all but who am I to question.

Skyway!

I will just have to wait and hope that there is a class soon then. Any one else hear the rumor about Skyway getting any more jets. I guess I shouldn't have waited so long to turn in my resume and missed the last class. Guess I will have to keep cracking at that suds club card until then. Can anyone explain why if Midwest is happy with Skyway and its performance then why don’t they get first dibs at more aircraft? Thanks for any input…..

Bescause to get more aircraft Midwest would have to finance them, something that I doubt they are willing to do when they are possibly about to add another fleet type in the next few years.

Do you know that from experience or are you just generalizing and assuming? Cause I finished out the 2001-2002 winter with Lakes doing IMW-IMT-ORD and dakota-MSP runs, and we never cancelled unless the plane broke. Give GLA a little credit, it's not a cakewalk flying in the Rockies either. Most unpredictable wx I've seen was in Wyoming and the western plains.

BTW your Skyway Beeches are kept up very nicely, no scratches or paint missing, and all waxed up too. Got anti-skid and brake deice? GLA's don't. (Not that I don't wish they did).

yes, not from first hand experience but from station agents that have been there during the GLA years. No we don't have either of the DI or AS options. Our MX keeps them in Good Shape.
