Actually, it is PFT. You pay $2 per hour to get SIC time on the french fry station until the feel that you are ready to hande it solo. The training contract is 6 months, not pro-rated.

It is a bridge program through Gulfstream Academy. Be careful, there were a few washouts who did not get arefund and now have to get their experience to old fashioned way.

I hear they'll hire Street Drive Through flippers if you have previous time flipping burgers at Burger King. Other wise it's a 2 year $20,000 training contract. They won't get you a hotel in training, but you will be given a $200/week stipend to help feed your family.

Indoc with Grimmace is a cakewalk, but the Hamburgler is a real a$$. Why the hell do I have to know how many gallons of oil the fryer can hold?

After the first two weeks they give you free lunch during the day and coupons for your family (valid only at your home McDonalds).

Hey, I might need a job at McDonalds. I was hired by a regional in December for a Jan class. I quit my ramp job of 7 years at a major carrier and my Part 135 job for this. I was given 6 days notice that my groundschool was postponed for a while. (who knows how long). I did get my job back flying three days a week at my 135 job, but just yesterday I was told that the person who was trained to take my runs is now going to be flying them. I am not on the street, but I am now on a on call basis. How's that for luck. I am not bitter at all. I am patient, but skeptical at the same time. The chief pilot at the company I was hired by said that when the class does start I am in it for sure. I do (supposedly) have a job with a regional still, but I may be waiting a while, and I may not be flying and staying current because of what happened to me at my cargo job. I don't blame them, but I just experienced what this industry is all about. Nothing, I mean nothing is guaranteed in aviation. One day things couldn't be better, the next your wondering how the bills are going to get paid. Anyway, I may be a good candidate for a class at McDonalds. I did work for KFC in highschool. I sure miss coming home full of grease.

I am also worried about IOE. Working the drive thru with the training captain is going to be stressful. You get a truck load of construction workers driving through hasseling you about your uniform is probably going to suck.

Attention all prospective Burger Flippers: McDonalds does not require you to resign your seniority number. This comes after many furloughed pilots were hesitant to jump on board America's favorite fast-food chain. McDonalds WILL provide you with uniforms and PAID training. This is welcome news for many pilots wanting to transition to the fast-food industry.

What's all this hoopla about the FGDC (Fry Guy Defense Coalition)?

This is what I've gathered from all the arguements out there....Most likely, unless you're working counter already, chances are you'll never make counter. So we should fight for more money and benefits (2 free shake guaruntee and apple pie rig) because all we'll ever do is cook fries. On the other hand, I've heard that we should just take what we get in hopes of more room at the counter.

What's the deal?

PS--I don't have a position on RJDC, hell, I don't even understand it so don't get pissed off at me. I am not advocating a certain position. Things are getting bad when a disclaimer is needed.....

Rookie mistakes!

You guys are concentrating too much on the deep fryer and single burner work. If you don't give the proper attention perfecting your ice-cream swirl maneuver, you'll be stuck in the back tossing salad all day long for the salad shackers.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, that's when it really goes south.

Don't step on anyone on your way up the later. Remember, "todays A-hole, tomorrows CEO (Chief Pilot)."

Always use protection when operating the fryer. It's an OSHA requirement.

That fry sim is WAY more touchy than the real thing, and the warning lights never stop ringing.

McDonalds announced today that they would be laying off nearly 1500 employees currently working in the corporate offices. In an attempt to place these laid-off workers, McDonalds has come up with a plan known as Burgers For Jobs (B4J). This plan will give individual restaurants the option to obtain additional burger flippers, as long as 70% of them are being operated by corporate furloughs. If the plan is rejected by the restaurants, McDonalds will restart the alter-ego chain, McDowells (as seen on the movie "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy).

Employees nationwide are in an uproar, since the new burger flippers will be starting at assistant managers' wages instead of the regular wage. Fortunately for them, the scope clause in their current contract will prevent any start-up restaurant from having more than one burger pattie on any sandwich.

I heard from a "reliable" source (that would be the MEC Chairman of the ABFA [Allied Burger Flipper Association] ) that the number to be furloughed would be 2000 and not 1500. He also said that the fry station was being retired and all of the fry guys were going to be displaced into the ice cream swirl machine and salad tossing line. This would be a big blow to us in the oil pool at McDonalds...However, this all could change soon because I also heard that there was a new contract coming with Frybardier, for 100 and 150 notch fry holders. Just remember that fast food is a volatile industry and anything is possible. Regards!

Farby has been whistling that tune for 16 years, which, by the way, is the minimum age for earning your FTP (Fry Transport Person) certificate. Of course, Farby made millions as president of FAFA (Future American Fryers' Association).

During his incarnation as FAFA, Farby published the magazine Frying Careers. In about 1990, he renamed it to Career Fryer.

Farby puts on these career seminars from time to time. He invites reps from companies, such as McDonald's, the Colonel, Taco Bell, Burger King, and Wendy's. You have to dress for an interview. Complete waste of time; I was told that experience in broadcasting is not helpful at all for a burger-flipping career. I also was told, in not so many terms, that I was too old. It's really frustrating when you send in tons of materials for burger jobs and people who are young enough to be your children are getting the jobs while you are not. I always understood that age discrimination is illegal. At any rate, not being able to find a job flipping burgers and needing a job that paid money were more than enough to prompt me to go to paralegal school.
