An idea/notion that I don't think many people have considered at XJ is the potential huge speedup that could ensue at Mesaba. Reason 1. lots of rich kid, revos wearing, new Bose headset, UND superstar F.O's in the marketplace. Reason 2. Enough six year Saab FO's just waiting to be Crj 200 Captains once they can hold it in MSP. How does it look to nwa if we are going to be able to staff aircraft in both seats. Maybe a potential on more Pinniacle crj's delivered once we get our 200 sim in order?
The ''six year fo'' is occuring for a bunch of reasons the industry sucked the last five of those six, (yea the great-ole union is going to get the seat lock down to 1 year), but still there is a seatlock. and even if the current f.o's who wont work the saab did fly the saab in the left seat, there is still a boat load of 200, and 900's coming EVERY month. there will be a long gap for many f.o's before they have the time to upgrade.
What's with the prostandards J.M last email, I am in agreeance with the idea of experience and just raw total time in 121 makes a difference with regard to upgrading, but this emailing in the fast reads has got to continue, the union is there to help the group of pilots and assist/protect them. a 1,500 hour pilot with no experience in 121 shouldn't upgrade i agree 110%, but there are plenty of good seasoned guys who are jumping other 121 carriers for the upgrade, like Southwest, United, FedEX, Alaska, scaring UND supstar f.o's from taking the upgrade is RIGHT ON!! my favorite part of his last email " You {as a captain}must now be the expert on the POM, FOM, FARs, TLRs, deicing, contaminated runways, pilot contract, and the list goes on." expert hmm tlr's i have yet to fly with a Superstar UND FO at mesaba in over 4 years that has any idea what the tl'r means.
I challenge the good ole j.m to set the record straight and be honest and not use scare tactics of " pink slips, or your job is on the line", we are all big boys here's. how about a add a boy, great job , or i wish i had the opportunity when i was first joining this company, i cant just think that there isn't justa bit of jelously with j.m , heck i'm sorta ticked when i joined it wasn't that way in the slightest bit!!
A crash, or a major accident can kill a company faster than anything, (valujet, twa) i can't fathom an airline putting a pilot in command control if they (airline) wasn't 100% certain that pilot was safe.
Have you even heard of PINNACLE??
