I'm looking for anyone that has previously gone through a Mesa interview and training to provide a little feedback about what a new guy might expect. Thanks in advance for the help.
best gouge I've found is at www.aviationinterviews.com it is pretty much spot on for what they are looking for. Read the gouge!! and study the stuff mentioned in it. Even the stuff that is fairly old is still pretty accurate.

One of the main things they look for in the interview is someone with a positive attitude and not just someone who thinks they are owed the job.

If you have any specific questions on the D8 groundschool feel free to PM me.

So Mesa pulled out the UNS's from the -200's that came from PDT?

**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** shame. That little box is awesome.

As far as getting through training, all you can do is your best. That should be enough. As long as you don't half arse it, you should be fine. The hardest part for me going through Dash training at another airline was trying to figure out what I needed to know. It took less than a day to figure out that I needed to know everything they were throwing at me. I put forth the effort to learn all that I could and did fine. Actually even enjoyed parts of it.

Thanks!

Thanks to all of you for the help........Well, at least most of you. :) I have taken all of the constructive messages into account, and I'm sure that they will prove helpful. Thanks again!

kidvespa and YV training

Hey kidvespa

Why is it always the guy that paid for his flight time somewhere, then operated the flaps and gear flying the ditch for a few hundred hours, that shows up to sim training with the instrument scan of Stevie Wonder that blaims his instructor. I don't even want to hear the instructors version of training. I bet your sim partners version of training would be enough to let everyone know what kind of idiot you are.

It's too bad ass#*#@! like you start rumors on boards like this and scare these the people who are trying to get honest, trusted and valuable information here. Do us all a favor and keep your inexperienced ignorant comments to yourself. Luckily we don't have to worry because guys like you usually don't last long!!!

if the flight is scheduled for 1.5 and you fly for 3.0, you just flew for 1.5 for free.
Isn't that the way Southwest does it? I remembering reading somewhere that they pay "per leg" and not "per hour", just what the leg should take in time is what you earn.

I'm probably wrong, but I'd like to find out if someone could correct me.

Do most airlines not pay you if you fly over the schedualed time? As someone just wrote about Mesa. Is this correct? I have never heard of this, although I am not flying for the airlines yet, this could be y.

Thanks

I could be wrong but...

I was operating under the assumption that most regionals do NOT pay block or better. I don't think you can dog MESA for this one...

Mesa pays only for the schduled flight time? So you can't get any bonus time if your not scheduled to go over your guarantee? I'm speechless............

Relevant...you decide

All I know is when I hear those Mesa guys on the radio every day, they truly sound miserable.

...then again all those "bluestreak" geeks sound like they just came off 100% O2, so go figure.

I think most regionals DO pay block or better. In fact this is the first that I've heard of Mesa not paying this way. Glad I'm not there.

I think all regionals but Mesa pay block! There may be one or two more, but getting paid what you fly is the most logical way imo and I'm sure many others. In-fact its not hard to go over block, one taxi delay will generally do it.

This is correct. I think Mesa is the only RJ operator that does not pay block or better. This this the biggest flaw in our contract as we do a lot of flying out of PHL, LGA, DCA, ORD sitting in line or holding and not making a dime. It sucks!!!!! -Bean
