From the 9th circle of hell (MAG)
What to expect:
Code shares with the "new" UsAir/AmWest, as they start flying to the big island latter this year.
DAL will drop scope for ERJ use by MAG, freeing up the Freedom cert to fly the Hawaii routes. Why it is necessary to fly a new certificate at in the islands is unknown . . . my guess is a future spin-off company, with Mesa as a 49% owner ---> or to pave the way to fly larger aircraft (see next)
Why now? Who knows . . . buy my guess is JO wants to be the launch customer for the CRJ C series (Bombardiers answer to the 737 and the E-190), due out late 2007 (?). No WAY the Mesa airline partners will alleviate scope issues for something this big, so he wants this new airline/cert clean to do what it wants . .
That's my best guess for now, but who the heck knows?
P.S. --- JO dosen't do money losing deals. If this goes forward, it WILL make $$$.
