From the 9th circle of hell (MAG)

What to expect:

Code shares with the "new" UsAir/AmWest, as they start flying to the big island latter this year.

DAL will drop scope for ERJ use by MAG, freeing up the Freedom cert to fly the Hawaii routes. Why it is necessary to fly a new certificate at in the islands is unknown . . . my guess is a future spin-off company, with Mesa as a 49% owner ---> or to pave the way to fly larger aircraft (see next)

Why now? Who knows . . . buy my guess is JO wants to be the launch customer for the CRJ C series (Bombardiers answer to the 737 and the E-190), due out late 2007 (?). No WAY the Mesa airline partners will alleviate scope issues for something this big, so he wants this new airline/cert clean to do what it wants . .

That's my best guess for now, but who the heck knows?

P.S. --- JO dosen't do money losing deals. If this goes forward, it WILL make $$$.

Sure!

And for those who ridicule my statement about JO being a good businessman, isn't this what it's all about? Growing your company, providing value for your shareholders and making a profit? Nobody gives a S about "the industry" or "the bar" other than the pilots. To think otherwise is fantasy.

And FWIW our newest contract is a STEP UP from what we had. But then again that is another discussion. But I'll throw one more grenade: we have been ALPA for years and years. If JO and his industrial destruction is so important, who dropped the ball?

Your ALPA council dropped the ball. You all voted on your new contract. The fact that you would brag about it being a step up is pathetic. Who is the worst paying airline in America?

You all act like JO is this business genious. The reason it costs Mesa less to operate than any one else is because you guys make less than any other regional group in the universe.

Why does everyone rag on you guys?

So why is it that everyone rags on Mesa about the pay?, the difference is only a few bucks!, who gives a sh!t, Mesa gets 13 pay periods a year , one extra than other regionals so the difference is minimal at best, why does everyone think they should be making $100K + after only a few years at a regional, very unrealistic! as far as Mesa lowering the bar on pay ,again very unrealistic, usually the ones complaining about how much Mesa makes are the ones that are about to get a pay cut or ones that have gotten one, and usually they are the ones that are wholly owned and their parent company are the ones that make decisions on pay cuts and furloughs! not other regionals.

Unbelievable...

Man, you guys (I mean boys) really crack me up trying to differentiate and segregate all the different regionals based on pay. Seriously, you're talking about a difference of a few bucks per hour (IF that!). I advise everyone to step out in the "real" world...maybe take a look at corporate america, for example. There, you'll see that differences in pay are based on HUNDREDS of dollars per hour, or THOUSANDS per month. I don't hear anyone in the industry I work in saying that XXY Engineering, Inc is "dragging down the rest of the industry" because their engineers make $2 per hour less than their competitors.

Seriously, you ALL make sqaut! (and I did as well when I USED to work at a regional). And to hear you try and ridicule the likes of CHQ, Pinnacle, and Mesa as "bottom feeders" based on a few bucks less per hour is just absolute comedy!

And what I really don't understand is how ALL of you continue to get SO worked up over how little someone else makes at another regional, and how crappy their contract/QOL is. If I were you, I'd be downright happy at not having to work there, and leave it at that. If someone at, for example, CHQ is able to pay their bills on first year pay, and enjoy a decent QOL, then what's the problem? And if some guy at Mesa, or whatever other regional, is doing the same, then so be it. What's it to you? Of course, those pilots aren't sitting around wasting time on this board...they're out enjoying their lives. Novel concept, huh?

...but I forget, they're still all "dragging down the industry"!

Carry on children!

The Truth: Thanks for the reply, that is what i was trying to say, sounds like you put it a little better than i did

You think those pay scales suck. Check out what they offer on the mesa-air.com careers section.

Ouch! The worst part is that the FO scale on airlinepilotpay.com tops at five years at $25. That's less than second year at WP.
.

That shows you how accurate airlinepilotpay is. The fact is SECOND yr pay at Mesa is $28 and change. I think it tops out around $36 or $37 at yr 6. Don't let the facts get in your way though. -Bean

Well, according to www.airlinepilotcentral.com, I guess Great Lakes would be the worst paying ($15/hr and $1/hr per diem). Next would be Gulfstream. Then Skyway and Mesa are tied. Oh, wait, it looks like Pinnacle FOs are also paid less than Mesa too. Oh yeah, and Mesa jet captain is going at under 2 years...but we'll just ignore that part. And we'll ignore the part about Mesa CRJ captains topping at the same or better pay as 737 and 727 captains at Casino Express, Amerijet, and Champion Air. And while we're at it we may as well forget about how Mesa captains top about $11/hr above Jet Blue E190 captains (yeah yeah yeah, they get overtime pay, so that makes it okay)

Once again, I could argue with the above statement, but I wouldn't want to confuse anyone with the facts. Just go ahead and jump in with everyone else here looking down on Mesa while making your $0.50 more per hour thinking you are doing your part to raise the bar.
You guys need to wake up and take a look in the mirror instead of pointing fingers at everyone else. ALL REGIONAL AIRLINE PILOTS ARE LOWERING THE BAR FOR MAINLINE PAY. But hey, if you think jumping on the "it's all Mesa's fault" bandwagon makes you cool, go right ahead.

Well, at least Mesa is still hiring a bunch as of right now compared to others out there that have cxled interviews and/or training. Lets see..hhmmmmmm whats a better sign?

I've got a good lead on a crashpad in Honolulu:

One bedroom condo on the estate of a secretive book author. Caretaker is a Brit with a Hitler mustache who owns two Doberman Pincher hounds. Rent includes access to cool 1980s Ferrari, gorgeous private beach and endless murder/disappearance investigations. Must wear super-tight shorts, Detroit Tigers hat, blue and white Hawaiian shirt, and groomed mustache. Former Navy Intelligence officers with time in Hughes 500 preferred.
