I agree, but when I owned MY company I offically banned ERAU grads because of BAD ATTITUDE!

Theres rejects in every bunch, but I don't see why you should weed out a lot of good candidates as well.

Might as well not interview anyone with a college degree..

Ok folks, I know our reputation, and I happen to be friends with alot of the CFIs that took part in that and have three students on our flight team. Say what you may about them, but those flight team guys are some of the best students I've taught. All that competition was about was getting them ready for nationals and for us, having a little fun. I didn't think it was supposed to make us look like we're all God's gift to flying, and everybody there had a great time. And yeah, the CFI's lost, but you all are right, we were too busy teaching to go and practice 500 spot landings.

Most of the students and CFI's here, myself included, try everything to get rid of that stereotype that we all think we're better than everyone else and deserve whatever job we apply for. I'll always tell my students the way it really is out in the real world (ie keep your CFI cert current, and a second job prospect open at all times).

Ya'll will love this story. One of my best students one night kinda got to me a little bit. It was about midnight, and a Continental 737 was taxiing out in DAB 5 hours late due to delays in Newark. As they taxied past our ramp, they said "Hey is that the Embry Riddle ramp?" Tower said "Yeah about 90% of flight training in the country is on the east coast of Florida." Then my student jumps on the radio and says "Yeah but the best ones come from Riddle."
I just shook my head and said "You've got a LOT to learn."

Shoulda slapped him up side the head....

I've met some major tools from the flight team.

A student who was a CFI at Air America was presenting about why off campus flight training may be a better option, and a flight teamer had to pipe up with the "well if you do your flight training at Riddle you'll get hired at an airline with 200 hours" crap...

I almost cracked up.

********************ing dumbass.

Back in '99 when I started here as a student, that was pretty much true (Bridge programs, internships, etc), but not so much anymore.

I think the kid, who shall remain nameless, mentioned ASA. The ASA instructors woulda kicked him in the nuts and thrown him out the back door when they got their hands on him.

Attention all ERAU alumni. If you think this stuff is harmless, the past company I worked for has un-officially banned hiring of ERAU grads due to video's, and the poor attitude they receive from ERAU grads. That was a very good company with many pilot positions in the future. If this burns your biscuit you should let the ERAU alumni association know.

What company is this? I'll add them to my list of companies I'll never work for. I won't work for a company that feels compelled to stereotype a large group of people based upon where they went to school. Actually, I think that's considered discrimination...

It's kind of like saying that you'll never hire ASU students because you hear it's just a party school. Kind of unfair to the people that busted ass and didn't party every night, yes?

And yes, this video is stupid. However, when the flight team makes up a minute fraction of the student body as a whole, isn't it slightly unfair to brand the rest of us normal ERAU alum as idiots too?

I remember a speech by a nameless Flight Training big wig saying it would be possible to go directly into the right seat of a 737 on graduation, if you played your cards right. That was in 2000.

giggle snort (cocaine)

I hate to see my school get bashed like this. Some laughing and harmless name calling at guys that make stupid videos, sure, but discrimination and bashing the school in general is lousy.

ERAU worked for me and many others. Is it for everybody? NO
but at least don't bash it because either you have no idea what you're talking about or you had a bad personal experience.

To those that are looking for a flight school with a good reputaion WORLD WIDE and maybe learn a thing a two about flying that most people don't get exposed to, ERAU might work.

I graduated in '92 with a 3.3 GPA, got excepted by the Navy, flew EA-6B's and maybe because of my aeroscience degree got to be an evaluator for the F-18G. I then had to recall some of my old aerodynamics and systems knowlege to pass probably the hardest interview out there. Now I fly 747-400's for a major world carrier while flying T-45's on the weekends, not to bad a life.

Was it all ERAU? Of course not. Some was just plain luck, but I truly believe it gave me an edge.

Attitude goes a long way as well. I am very humble in my position and realize every day how much I DON'T know.

I hope someday ERAU will regain some respect. It helped my live the dream to the absolute utmost, and I'm sure it will for other aviatiors as well.

So to hijack the thread. If was going to make an awesome video, what would it have in it?

I know three people who go to the school personally. They have all told me basically they will be hired for a flying job right after graduation, will have preference over other people applying and that ERAU Flight Training is the best in the CIVILLIAN world.

So when the students who go there stop being total spoiled brats, and the faculty stop lieing to them and making insane promises, CAPT program, etc maybe someone will have a little more respect for the joke of a school ERAU has become.

Girls on Trampolenes. ok...I probably misspelled trampolenes. I could go get a dictionary and look it up...or even google it...but what fun would that be when I can waste that time on FI!

It took me months to unbrainwash some of my roomates, but they "get" it now. But theres only so much I can do as 1 man.

I hate to bring this up and I am not going to point the finger, but come on fella... if you are going to defend your higher education institution it would probably be a good idea to proof your post a little better for spelling and grammar mistakes. Just a thought.

Who are they kidding... MY flight training was the best in the civilian world ;)
