Read down under "job openings", now you know what we are dealing with in ref. to UsAir ALPA/MEC:

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE
November 1, 2005
This is Jack Stephan with a US Airways MEC update for Tuesday, November 1st, with four new items.
Item 1. The MEC convened its special meeting today and received a report from the US Airways
members of the Joint Negotiating Committee. This was followed by a report from ALPA International
President, Captain Duane Woerth, on industry retirement and insurance issues. The MEC spent the
remainder of the day in closed session receiving further reports on the status of joint negotiations and
equity distribution issues.
The special MEC meeting recessed at 5:45 p.m. and will reconvene at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning in
Conference rooms 14 and 15 at the ALPA Herndon office, 535 Herndon Parkway, Herndon VA.
Taxis
are the available transportation to the ALPA Herndon office. All US Airways pilots are encouraged to
attend the meeting, but please be advised that portions may be in closed session.
The
meeting notice and agenda are posted on the pilots only home page under "What's New."

Item 2.
By mutual agreement between ALPA and US Airways management, MDA negotiations have
been deferred until after the arbitrator has issued his decision in the Wexford/Republic arbitration.
Recall that this decision is expected in mid-November. Once these talks have resumed, they will
continue until their completion.

Item 3.
The Flight Security Committee is reminding all pilots that they must take their bags off of the
airplane for inspection when going through customs. Recently, crews on a through-flight from the
Caribbean to CLT have been leaving their bags on the plane instead of taking their bags through
customs. Please remember that if you are required to clear customs, so do your bags. If you do not bring
your bags through customs with you, you could be fined 5,000 dollars. Please contact your Flight
Security committee with any questions or concerns. Their contact information is available on the
Flight
Security Committee webpage
on the pilots only website.
Item 4. Pace Airlines, headquartered in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is planning to hire pilots soon
for various domiciles. They are seeking pilots with experience on the B-737 and B-757. Also, Go Jets, a
commuter airline headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is planning to hire pilots. To learn more about
job requirements and how to apply, click on "
Job Openings" under the MEC Fast Links on the pilots
only website.

Please remember we now have 1,574 pilots on furlough with approximately 400 pilots currently working
at MDA or Jets For Jobs carriers.

Your ALPA at work for you:

Also, GJs, a
commuter airline headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is planning to hire pilots. To learn more about
job requirements and how to apply, click on "Job Openings

Unbelievable.

Time to boot alpa. NOW. TODAY.

No, bad idea. The problem isn't ALPA, the problem is the local reps. You definitely need to boot the MEC members after this crap though. ALPA National has been engaged in a huge fight over HoJets, and now an MEC thinks it's alright to promote the same airline? It's ludicrous, and whoever decided to do it needs to go right now.

If I were a member of that MEC, I'd be studying the procedures for a recall vote, and I'd be volunteering my time to make it happen.

Either that, or I'd sit and whine on Flightinfo.com about how stupid ALPA is and blame them for all my ills.

Explain why it would be the LOCAL reps and the TSA MEC that would be at fault again?!!

Since the post was from UsAirways Code-aPhone?........or are you saying the UsAirlines MEC is at fault?

You are correct

The message is from the MEC not the LEC.

I think PCL128 has much to learn about the inner workings of a union.

You may not like an operation or a particular company, but they are not scabs until they cross a picket line and are condemned by th union. In this case, it appears they have the backing of ALPA.

An interesting group of replies.....also an interesting code a phone.

Take it from me, as I dealt with the U MEC and ALPA for a number of years. This code a phone is indicative of ONE thing and ONE thing only. Right now, it is every group for themselves......and it has been for quite some time. The U MEC just has finally figured it out. Further, the U ALPA group must be looking at finding jobs for some of its group that has been furloughed.

The day the major carrier pilots can expect support (other than is "strong" language from others on a web board) from regional pilots and vice-versa is way over. What is surprising is that what took 50 years to build was torn down in a tenth of the time.

So play your cards in this business carefully, and with the knowledge that your fellow airman will cut your throat for an upgrade, a bigger airplane, or a bigger paycheck.......all under the watchful eye of ALPA and DW.

Ha, ha! Isn't that ALPA's motto? Or is it "every man for himself"?

Apparently, the motto of the U MEC is "F-everybody else. I got mine!" TC

"Pull Up the Rope, I'm IN!"

Newsflash...the Mainline MEC hasn't a clue what goes on outside of their world..."Piedmont, they got all those RJs right?"

The UsAirways MEC has made a grievous error and it will be corrected with a retraction very soon.

U does not support that airline in any way shape or form.

ALPA as a whole is clearly out of touch with reality right now. I got a FastRead today, thinking maybe it would contain a retraction and apology. Nope. Just a warning to Paris bound crews (what, all 10 of them?) that things might be dicey in the bad neighborhoods. Shoot, things were worse than that outside our hotel in Charlie-south. I'm sure it was vital they send that information to all 60,000 ALPA members ASAP. How about a warning to all the LA and NY bound crews? Don't go wandering into the bad neighborhoods, fellas.

Paris-bound crews should be aware that suburban areas of Paris, France have experienced six nights of civil unrest. Flight operations into the Paris area remain secure, but layover locations may not have the same level of routine protection.
The ALPA National Security Committee strongly urges crewmembers to take all appropriate precautions and carefully consider their planned layover activities while in Paris. Contact your MEC security coordinator for further information.

An overview of the situation in Paris can be reviewed through the following link:

Actually, I believe you are the one that needs the lesson my friend. As an elected LEC officer, I can assure you that I'm very familiar with the internal workings of ALPA.

Man, are you arrogant. Jeff Helgeson has probably got more flight time inside the OM than you have TT. He's a former OZ/TWA/AA driver so I'm quite confident HE knows more about unions than YOU.

Lose the 'tude, dude.

Rant over...

You say the message came from the MEC and not the LEC. Correct. However, who composes the MEC? The MEC is composed of the reps from each LEC. The status reps from each LEC are the MEC. If the LEC reps (i.e. the MEC) don't immediately retract the message supporting HoJets, then they need to be recalled along with the MEC officers, no questions asked. This is a direct contradiction of ALPA National's stance on HoJets.

SCABs or not, this is completely unacceptable.

Oh goodie. PFT alive and well within ALPA.

When all you webboard morons are done with your'e wailing and ALPA bashing, you might want to dial 1 800 FOR ALPA and listen to the U MEC's retraction statement.

Yeah, no "sheet". I listened to the code phone message last night and like everyone else was appaled at what I heard regarding job "opportunities"
at GJ. So ,what did I do about it ? I finished my trip early this morning and called the U MEC office in PIT and spoke with Dana from their communications department. She was already informed of the error by many pilots from many different ALPA carrieres not the least of which was the Trans States MEC. She said that they we're working on a retraction statement as we spoke and that it would be on the code a phone this evening, which it was. I think next time ,though I'll just save the time and aggravation and just call for Duane Woerth's head on a platter here on good ol' FlightInfo.com, where idiots come home to roost!

Like I said, I'll always give credit where it is due, and I applaude the U MEC for taking care of this issue, here is tonights (11/2/05) code a phone:

MEC CODE-A-PHONE UPDATE
November 2, 2005
This is Jack Stephan with a US Airways MEC update for Wednesday, November 2nd, with four new
items.
Item 1. The MEC reconvened its special meeting today in Herndon, VA and spent the majority of the
day receiving a comprehensive report from our Merger Committee in closed session. Details of their
presentation to the MEC will be available on the pilots only website later this week.
The MEC unanimously passed a resolution on the allocation of stock called for in LOA 94. The MEC
determined that the stock is to be distributed on an equal per capita basis to all pilots who were active
US Airways, Inc. pilots, during the period commencing October 2004 (the month LOA 93 was signed)
through September 2005 inclusive. In addition pilots in the following classifications during the period
October 2004 through September 2005 inclusive, shall also be issued stock: pilots on military leave,
ALPA leave, bereavement or emergency leave, and termination pending review. There is also a
provision for pilots who left the service of the Company during this time to receive stock on a prorated
basis. The resolution also seeks to have the Company withhold stock to pay for each pilot's withholding
tax.
This complete resolution is posted on the pilots only home page under "What's New."
A late agenda item was accepted for consideration. The MEC unanimously passed a resolution
authorizing the MEC Chairman to execute a Memorandum of Understanding, under certain conditions,
concerning the Company's commitments proposed in the Republic employment fact sheet. This
resolution is also posted on the pilots only home page under "What's New."
The special MEC meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
Item 2.
Yesterday's MEC Code-a-Phone included an item on available pilot positions at *************************. It
is necessary to inform you that ************************* is an "alter ego" airline created by Trans States Airlines
Holdings, which also operates Trans States Airlines (a US Airways affiliate and Jets for Jobs
carrier). ************************* was created to avoid union representation, with the intention of denying the ALPA
pilots at Trans States the right to fly the 70-seat aircraft at *************************, and to dodge compliance with
the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement between the Trans States pilots
and their management. The Trans States pilots are still battling their management to obtain the
************************* flying under their ALPA CBA.
In addition to establishing an alter ego carrier, Trans States management has also engaged in a
disturbing and reprehensible pattern of contract noncompliance and led a personal campaign

OK now the issue is over and we can all get back to our regularly sked program here at flyfo, let me be the first to get us back on track:

Thoes SWA pilots are really bringing down this industry, and they paid for training too...

JB guys are just cabin cleaners.....
