Listening to IPOD with headset

Does anyone know how to wire my IPOD so that when I make my PA's they can hear my new Nick Lackey tunes in the background along with my voice?

I'll bet they'd listen then.

just recently started listening to music while flying, makes those b*tchy skydivers less annoying on the ride to altitude. Oh yea I just do the earbud under the DC's method and it works surprisingly well.

Go to this website http://www.flightcom.net/accessories/ and buy the copilot transmit cable and plug it in the jumpseater mike jack then to ur mp3 player, been play'n with it 4 months you get used to atc in the backgroung and they cannot hear the music.

Not sure about the amatuer that shows up to fly needing an IPOD. How embarassing for both pilots when one has to be baby-sat.

Professionals do not need to be told and they don't need to be policed.

Seriously, its not a hard job, cruise flight is the easiest thing in the world. How hard is it to look up every few paragraphs and check things out? I cant imagine how hard it would be to put my book down and don my mask. . . . why not just fly with your hand on the thing or have the QRH at the ready in your lap? I bet you try to get your FO's to call you Captain as well.

Unprofessional? How bout reading the paper, magazine, doing a crossword, talking about that hot chick with the big ones that just walked on the plane, or putting a baseball cap underneath you headset or how bout "You've seen the ta tas on the FA?, or "I can't wait til I get home so I can get drunk" or any talking unrelated to the safety of flight.

How about stickers on flight bags or guys that don't have leather flight bags or eating...i hear crews responding to atc with their mouths full.

If it's your plane and you don't want ipods being played then that's fine but i wouldn't call in unprofessional.

I wouldn't condone watching movies, playing around on a laptop, or even hooking an ipod into the intercom system...but if someone takes the ear pieces and puts them in their ear under the headset and doesn't miss radio calls and such I don't see why there should be an issue with it. Personally I think it decreases the chances of having the person doze off. And anyone who says they've never caught themselves nodding off in cruise is full of it.

Anybody know how I can plug in my portable DVD player and headset? Also, once that issue is resolved, I'd like to play my XBox 360 thru my DVD player. How did I do that?

Funny, I was thinking that all those CRT's could be put to better use (during cruise flight only, of course). After all, we're all trained to fly with the standby gauges.

Can anyone tell me how to hook up my Pong game into the DCU's? I think it'd be really cool to ricochet that square thing back and forth across all six CRT's.

I plan to carry my old pong game around in my new backpack. I can't afford the X-box on our post-concession salary...or a new rollaboard to replace the one that has been destroyed by years of abuse by ramp agents back in the cargo compartment.

I was on a DAL 767 jumpseat, TPA-ATL, when we got put in a hold for weather. EFC over an hour away. I realized I'd rented a movie in the terminal in ATL, but hadn't finished watching it. I asked the captain if he minded, he said go ahead. Just as I get it running on my laptop, i see the captain lean over and talk to the FO. A few minutes later, he's watching a movie on his own laptop...

I remember one of Tom Block's columns in Flying about how he passed the time flying across the pond. Pre-iPod days, but I think he used a Walkman and portable speakers that he hung in the cockpit. As I recall, his idea of CRM was asking the FO what kind of opera he liked. And didn't he knock off a paperback every trip?

I remember one about Len Morgan, flying a B747 across the Pacific. His wife was in the jumpseat, and leaned forward to ask a question. That's when she realized Len and the FO were both sawing logs....

I've had two captains pipe in their iPods over the intercom. Mostly we did it at the gate to pass the time. If it was in cruise, I choose not to listen, but that was more because our tastes in music didn't agree. i've seen more than a few guys fall asleep (myself included) and I've seen guys zone out while looking out the window. not a whole lot of difference. some people use a puzzle to stay awake/stay sharp, some do mental gymanstics with fuel burn. not a whole lot of difference.
