This thread is hilarious.

My father-in-law lives in Ohio and when he visits us here in North Carolina, he loads his trunk up with Yuengling on the trip back.

It is pretty dang good BTW. Almost as good as Duff

best Beers

Even though my wife would agree with the Yuengling fans my personal favorites are 1)Sierra Nevada Porter, 2)Alaskan Amber Alt 3) Bell's Oberon (seasonal), 4) Anchor's Steam (the only true orginal american beer style), 5)Widmer Hefeweizen when you are hot and thirsty. In my refrigerator now Sam Adam's Boston Ale. Those of you who haven't tried Bell's Oberon are in for a treat, but hurry up, October is the last month for this seasonal till next April.

Whatever happened to just kicking back with a twelve pack of some good old light beer? All these fancy names, specialty beers, the oatmeals, and this and that get too confusing. Just give me a twelve pack of miller light and im set.

There is nooo way.............Nooo way you could have come from my loins.
When we get home I'm going to punch your momma in the mouth.

Buying beer in Pa is harder than ATL atleast you can get it at a grocery or quick mart. If they don't have Yuengling then try Shinner Bock. Shinner is the best made american beer.

Yeah but, some of us prefer a beer with, oh, I dunno... taste maybe?? Miller Lite, Bud Light... what's the point? Watery, thin, nothing there.

I surprised we're on page 5 here and no one has mentioned Rogue Ales in Newport, OR. For a lighter style with taste, can't go wrong with a Dead Guy Ale. And their Shakespeare Stout is fantastic. Best. Beer. Ever. The only Rogue I've tried that I didn't like was the Hazelnut Brown... too sweet.

As far as beers that are just too much (for me), it's the Wee Heavys or Scotch Ales... and I once tried a big bottle of Arrogant Bastard. Whoa, that was hoppy! Very, very bitter; I was ashamed that I couldn't finish it... but that was a coupla years ago, might be time to try it again.

So do you guys drink your Sam Adam's Yankee Porter Steamer Ale with your pinky fingers extended?

What can I say, I am a fan of cheap american light beer. I guess you can call that fancy beer good tasting, if you like beers that taste like shi*.
I dont like my beers to go down like a full meal. I had a buddy get a full keg of that Sierra Nevada garbage. First off, what a waste of like over a hundred bucks, or whatever it costed. Second, how can you drink that stuff?

For the poster above, I think pinky fingers are definately extended to full point-ness for some of these folks.

Now dont you guys go and get all pissy, its all in good fun.

Got a couple of questions for ya.

I'm a beer lover, but what the heck is Yuengling? Sounds like something I would like, but never heard of it.

Are there areas still so backward that they won't sell alcohol on Sundays? I thought that $hit was over in the 70's.
I know Utah has some F'd up drinking laws, and also Oklahoma has that reduced alcohol beer $hit, but not being able to buy beer on Sundays is asinine.

Yeah and you know what, until fairly recently Missouri didn't allow liquor sales on Sunday either. You had to find either a restaurant that could sell package liquor or a few convenience stores that sold 3.2 beer only. If you could find it. You paid thru the nose though for a six.

Keystone is nothing but Coors Light with a dent in the can. They both suck. But if youre gonna drink p!ss water, save yourself a few bucks and get keystone.

Pinky finger? Nawww, it's the middle finger!

I used to think like you regarding fancy lad dark/thick beers; how can anyone drink that stuff? But, it's an acquired taste and I grew to like and appreciate it. And believe it or not, I somewhat agree with you on the Sierra Nevada IPA (green label)... it's pretty hoppy and bitter, not my favorite. But the guys at SN also make a fine porter and stout (blue and yellow labels) which (to me) are better than the IPA.

Yes, I know, opinions and tastes are like a$$holes, everybody has one... you consider the fancy stuff to taste like crap, while I think the same about American mass produced stuff. Many people think that Guinness is thick and heavy, but have these folks ever actually tried it? It really isn't very strong or heavy... and compared to some microbrew stouts and porters, Guinness is kinda wimpy. Regarding the cost factor, yes, the fancy lad beer is more expensive, but in my case, I don't sit around consuming mass quantities... at home I'll have 1 or 2 in an evening and that's it. Cuts down on the costs considerably.

It's a funny thing how some people can change their tune regarding beer tastes; my wife now turns her nose up at a Fat Tire, Abita Amber, Shiner, Full Sail, etc. Too bland she says, gimme a stout.

What? Are you hydrating or something?

Oh yea, Skinny Dip from New Belgium. Awesome seasonal brew.

Cheers

Fair enough, I can live with that.

Naw, you guys have it all wrong...

Down in the Big Easy, beer was just something you drank before you went out to really get hammered on the hard stuff....Everclear and Dr. Pepper was a local favorite.

Some personal favorites for cheap-a$$ beer...why spend extra $$$? It was just comming back up anyway....

Old School Dixie, back when they'd just pump water out of the river

K&B Generic (yea, the drug store chain had their own generic brew)

Milwaulkee's Best (when you couldn't find anything local, ya had to down a yankee brew)

I don't think any of this stuff ever actually made it to my bladder....just regurgitated on someone's lawn.
