Now, let's see, the G-II is a $2M airplane at best, and the GIII about $5M at best. So, by your logic, if we're comparing them to the Legacy, hmm, I'd say the Legacy is about $15M overpriced! That will pay for a lot of maintenance.

Can we get back to the point. The main planes I am using for comparison outside or reliability are the II, III, and IV. We are all well aware of the V's performance when it isn't inthe hangar for MX!

In order to believe your claim that you've never been sidelined by mechanical problems one would have to believe that you never swapped aircraft with another crew because their airplane was in the dumper. Now let's see - crew swaps - nah, that NEVER happens.

Now let's move on to the pressurization issue. Here's what you said at first:

That is what you said, OKAY? When I called you on the absurdity of your statement (that since hte pressurization wasn't at max diff you could climb higher) you responded with this:

The Legacy and RJ do not operate at max diff until 410 which is why we got the 410 capability so quickly (the plane is over-engineered for its original mission in nearly every area).

Enough with the bandaids. You're just full of it. You haven't the experience in a wide variety of aircraft to have any clue what you're talking about. There are Gulfstream II, III, IV, V, 450, 550, Falcon 50/900 captains here PROVING this point and you simply refuse to accept it.

Okay, the Legacy has a niche. That said, it is not the same niche that Gulfstreams occupy in the corporate aviation market. Further, it is inappropriate of you to belittle an airplane you CLEARLY know nothing about particularly if you are using an inapplicable comparison (such as a Legacy) to make your point.

Where'd you go with that much fuel? I got into SBA today at noon - p*ssing down rain and wind blowing like a French whore. Haven't seen it that bad there since the 1982-83 El Niño winter. I guess I don't get there enough! Nice tonight though.

For the same mission, VERY TRUE... The Legacy does need more runway than the Gulfstreams... See the numbers posted above (right from the Legacy and Gulfstream web sites)

Dumbledore--We went to EWR and were tankering gas. It's a buck a gallon higher out here than at SBA or LAX. The plane will be returning to the west coast later in the week. We'll need about 4k lbs. here to make it back. Signifiacant savings. I'm sure we'll see it in our paychecks.

As for being held down, it's ok as long as it was for a good cause. I was afraid we were being kept down for AA... TC

while we are slinging crap out a outstanding rate I thought I would ad this to the scenerio. Lets put the DC-3 up against the EMB. It might not even compare, but is shure is a lot more fun to fly! Besides that I bet overall it has a better dispatch rate since 1930's then the EMB does, and it wasn't built buy a bunch of coke snorting south americans.

Falcon's are for sure the best deal going. We have a GIV also and it's never given us any problems. Imagine how much better an airplane performance-wise they'd be if they would put some slats on those things. Think i'll work out an STC for that and make millions. I'd bet those numbers would be impressive.

Although I may not agree with your assessment of the Falcon's desireability in relation to a GIV, you're description of the Legacy is hilariously right on:

With it's larger wing and more powerful engines the G550 offers improved field performance from the GIV. At the weights required for the G550 to fly the DA50EX's max range,at Mach 0.85, with six 200 pound passengers, and landing with 3,000 lbs of fuel, the following take-off and landing data would apply:

Accelerate - Stop: 3590 feet.

Landing distance: 2233 feet Part 91 or 3721 Part 135.


The G450 would require:

Accelerate - Stop: 4060 feet

Landing distance: 2673 feet Part 91 or 4455 Part 135

Don't get me wrong, the Falcon 50EX is a fine airplane. Dassault tried to put the DA50 line out of production in 1997, but it had such customer support that they couldn't, so they brought out the EX.
