So I got a call today from crew planning asking if there was any way I could help out this weekend. She was going up the list and trying to get anybody to cover trips.

I said no...I am unavailable, and I begin vacation today.

We have 75 pilots on furlough. This is ridiculous.

Anyone else getting the JM call with guys on furlough? I hope you are saying no.

Technically it's not really JM when you can say no to it......you mean an OT call right?

Just don't pick up the phone.

Yeah, really, who do you work for? If it is AWAC, we have not furloughed yet, but yes we have been junior manning and yes we are sending roughly 75 to the street next week. In general though, it does not matter who you fly for, you do not pick up opentime nor accept junior mans when there are guys on the street, case closed.

Some contracts allow you to say you are unavailable. That said, the easiest low hassle way to tell them you are unavailable is to not answer your phone on your days off.

who do you fly for

PSA.

Our contract does state you can be unavailable. I have vacation and they still call.

This is all an unwritten rule to not pick up these open times and junior mans, but maybe some of that cash we send to ALPA could be used to start a campaign against picking up open time/refusing j.m.'s, etc.

I think it should absolutely be an official union policy. Trust me, at AWAC it is just as bad right now, you are with similar company. Fly safe.

"UNAVAILABLE" I am Sorry!
Do they really think we have spare time to help them out when they give us lines with 11 days off worth 79 hours! Don't Furlough!! 2 Crew planers resigned this week effective in Sept. with NO full time replacements! It's going to get bad boys and girls!

Yea, saw that email. This girl was from crew planning that called.

Its just funny and should probably be expected that they have to get to this point. With something like 65 active Fo's in base, I am up closer to the top and if they had to go through all those guys lower, then to me that underestimates the need to get some of the furloughs back on line. Wishful thinking for those guys unfortunately.

I once got junior manned while furloughed. Kind of hard to say no, when you have no pay check.

Oh man. This is gonna blow up the thread now.

While I understand where you are coming from, this is surely against the contract. Spirit has a demonstration planned on Monday for this exact issue that is happening.

Just wondering...did you accept it?

No it's not. Didn't you hear that PDT is doing our crew planning starting in OCT.They have some of the nicest people over there

Or if you were informed and not a TYS based pilot here at PSA who is outside the loop you would know that PDT is going to start making our schedules. Thus there is a great chance they might look a little better to be honest. Just something to ponder while you sit there in TYS and are out of the loop like our normal knoxville pilot!

Why do some find it so hard to understand, DONT PICK UP THE PHONE.... If its someone that needs to know something they'll leave a msg and you can call back "if you want". I hate people that think its fun to answer the phone. you know their doing it because they hope its something that will benefit them.

You don't want any part of Piedmont making up your lines. I used to compare schedules with the PSA guys in the smoking hole at CLT. They've always had about the same lack of quality.

Add to that, the guy who does the schedules at PDT either has no mother, or is taking orders from higher up to make lives miserable. He's part of the reason for the high attrition last year. Schedules were crap!

And its just as nice denying them while on the phone.
