Highly unlikely. The top management really is attached to the pilot uniform and, unfortunately, the hat. There is just no way that DALPA is going to spend negotiating power on uniform and hat issues when getting our now soon to be united pilot groups the best work rules, pay and protections possible. My opinion is that we will be flying in this uniform for a very long time.Do we get to vote on the new uniform?
That would be suprising. Not saying that I don't believe you just that it is cheaper to buy the NW guys new uniforms than the whole pilot group. I would be happy if we just keep the uniform and can the hat.I think otherwise. More to follow. New one is in the works.

Since when does that common sense EVER apply to the airlines...Wasn't it DL that went out and got all new designer uniforms (premiered on a runway) for gate and FAs while going bankrupt?
Moustaches will be mandatory. Grow 'em if you got 'em. They will be otherwise issued.I think otherwise. More to follow. New one is in the works.
there is no way the delta guys will let go of that double breasted uniform and hat!
What was the financial status of DL on May 1, 2006?

When was the last time the pilot's uniforms were changed, since not part of the above fashion show?
Mr. Anderson (Uncle Richard) will do a few things to start the new company out. New uniforms, new employee number system, etc...think he pushed to increase the early outs in ATL. Many of those jobs gone and many of funtions being retained from NWA operations. This is a NEWCO. An awesome global airline.
Other than new wings and hat emblems the uniform has remained unchanged for decades.
Time for them to retire them to the "Delta Heritage Museum" I guess

I will believe it when I see it...but if the hat goes how bad could it be?
except for the pilots all of the other front line employees with customer contact have new uniforms. Do you really think they will change them again? We have done dumber things. Why would they change the employee numbers? A lot of expense with issuing new id cards.

scroll down for pilots...the ones from the 1940s look the same to me as the current...
The new ID number idea is to get rid of the "oh your a DAL or NWA guy". If you get rid of the ability to distinguish by employee number you can further unite a group because there isnt a judgment made prior to meeting someone once you see their id number on a pairing.
I see what your saying...but I think the same thing can be accomplished with out reissuing tens of thousands of Delta IDs...They will just issue the NW folks Delta numbers.
There's not that much in this for DL guys when compared to NWA. We need to insist on at least keeping our current QOL to the extent possible.
With love for my fellow brothers at Northwest. I agree 100% with the above statement. Yet to see the benefit of the merger for me!! But I guess I do not matter. The Delta guys do not matter as we are already well paid.I think he's reaching. The FAs and CSAs like their new uniforms a lot. The pilots may see the hat go away (good) and get a leather jacket option (who cares).
What we really need to be concerned about is the SLI and how it's implemented. I've heard they might be looking at 1 year fences only which would be terrible for those who live in most DL bases. We are currently also flying the lion's share of the higher paying equipment. 3-5 years fences on bases and equipment should be the minimum to allow people to keep their current QOL and expectations while the dust settles. It wouldn't stop the company from flying anything from anywhere. It would just cost them a little deadhead/credit time. Much better than watching your seniority deteriorate bid after bid.
