My question was simple...
This thread is called JetBlue Pilots Association DONATIONS!

Why the donations?!

I few people have donated their money. Ok. I just thought it was a fair question to ask why they would do that instead of donating to a charity or worthy cause for people who are down on their luck. Not one person that I know of at JB falls into that category. Again I say.. have a program that promotes the use of open time pickup whereas the pay goes to the association.

And I am aware that there are JB pilots that do NOT want a union. You're gonna have that everywhere. I'm ALPA and am glad to help out in Safety, but am not into the political side... just me.

this tread was started by a ual driver who send money to jbpa ( thank you) and thought it was a good idea for other non jb pilots to do the same . ask him about why he put this thread and title. and why he didn't send his $50 to catholic charities .

Remember JBPA cannot collect any money unless is donated because we are not , yet , the Jet blue pilots bargaining body (no one is).

enjoy your IOE, did the overseas for 6 years , still miss it.

Thanks man.. looking forward to it. Should be alittle different that taking a FRED overseas. Wonder how long we'll have to wait for the crew bus and the hotel rooms!

If the arguments for support are valid, wouldn't it be in ALPA's interest to support the JB pilots' organizing drive regardless of their preference for an in-house solution?

If you were the one who got canned for yelling at newhire candidates at a job fair while wearing a company id, I say you firing is more than justified.

If the guy he yelled at was a GoJet SCAB, then he was justified in his actions.

Motch, I sent money because I believe the JetBlue pilots deserve better. They deserve a real contract. They deserve redress of grievances. They deserve better pay for the 190s. Need I go on? Every pilot deserves a union that acts as their advocate. Creating such a union from scratch is difficult, and it's expensive. If I told you how much the Skywest ALPA drive cost, you probably wouldn't even believe me. These things are not cheap. So, in the interest of the profession, and in the interest of the JetBlue pilots, I have no problem with throwing a few bucks their way. It doesn't mean that you can't also give to charity. Give to both.

This is 100%, categorically false. Union dues that you pay are deductible. These donations are absolutely not dues. I doubt the IRS will catch anyone doing this. But just try explaining a deduction for a donation to a union start-up...especially on another property. The auditor would absolutely hate it, and would scrutinize everything else with a fine-toothed comb.

Thanks for the support, we promise we will be using our own money for the beer and women yours will be use for JBPA unionization efforts. by the way it is tax deductible.

There was another guy fired in the past year during newhire training. He was blatantly hitting on someone's VERY underage daughter. When he was told her age and asked to behave, his reply was along the lines of "But she's so hot!"

And Tom, I'm not implying this was you. Just relating a story about another termination.
