Well, I either just made a $50 donation to the JetBlue Pilots Association via PayPal at this link so that they can start the undoubtedly expensive process of getting a Union on the property........

OR

I just gave some guy named Michael S. of the "JetBlue Pilots Association" 50 bucks and posters like SNOWBUM and IronCity are laughing their a$$es off right about now because the unionization attempt they described in a previous thread is completely made up and they're going to use my money to buy expensive beer and cheap adult entertainment.

Hopefully it's the former and not the latter :)

I'm not posting this because I want accolades for contributing to their attempt to unionize. I'm just posting because if you'd like to see a UNIONIZED JetBlue on their property, even if it isn't ALPA as I'd prefer, maybe the need a little support. Or maybe I'm off base- I don't know. Anyway, I'm doing it mostly for selfish reasons as I think a UNIONIZED JetBlue is beneficial to the entire industry, which includes me!

Good luck with the organization effort JetBlue.

Thanks everyone for their donation. There is a good group of folks spearheading this effort(no I am not one of them). Let's hope there is a vote soon!

Thanks for the support, we promise we will be using our own money for the beer and women :) yours will be use for JBPA unionization efforts. by the way it is tax deductible.

thanks again

Thank you all for your support. Its good to see those outside of JB deciding to add to JBPA...

Thanks,

Longhorn

You couldn't be more wrong. We're using it exclusively for cheap beer and expensive adult entertainment. We at least have our priorities straight! Beer is beer, but good midget strippers cost more than you think.

Seriouslly though, thanks. I hope this thing gets up and running soon and we get a good career contract that we can build on.

I disagree with PCL128 most of the time, but I gotta give him credit for putting his money where his mouth is. Thanks to ualdriver and Cardinal too. We appreciate the support.

Just curious......
How is this tax deductible?
Not going against the grain here....I'm just curious.

when you do your taxes there is a question about you giving $$$$ to unions on the write off column but there is a yearly max.
I'm not an accountant but I don't see why that would not include JBPA when it is a registered non-profit labor organization.

I'd look into it closer before claiming it on taxes. It's not technically "dues," so it might not qualify.

that would probably be a good idea, besides , if you just want a tax deduction you should probably donate to catholic charities or your city food bank or some charity of that nature .

I sent money in this morning.

Good luck to you, however it goes!

Thank you for supporting..

BTW Lear, I support the "Release the Twins Foundation"

Just wondering....

Why the donations?
I know a few people over there and they (just like people on here) often speak highly about the pay they make as first and 2nd year guys (compared to almost everyone else) with time and a half over 70 hours, picking up extra flying, and profit sharing...

That being said, shouldn't they just pony up the money to start their own union if they are not going to go ALPA?
Hell, if every pilot picked up one day of flying on a day off and gave that pay to the union, you'd be pretty well funded pretty quickly!

Giving a loan is different, but a donation? There are alot of worthy charities out there.

On a side note, always knew JB would sooner or later unionize. Glad to see it.

It's not a loan or a donation. It's an investment. If JB can turn the screws and improve their contract, it improves everyone's leverage and impacts my pay stub positively.

Further, if the latent unity was such that "every pilot picked up a day of flying" for the cause, they'd already be represented. As seen from the Colgan and SkyWest examples, there's alot of stubborn characters out there that can't see the forest for the trees. These take alot of time, energy, and capital to win over.

Edit:
And when we get taken over, I'd prefer to get a payraise than a paycut during contract integration.

I was fired from JB in April and was wondering that if and when you guys and gals organize will you will look into past terminations and try to get there jobs back. I put my faith in the JB Values comitee and to say the least, very disapointed. Thank you for your help.

What did you do? You can't drop a bomb like that without some sort of context.

We rarely fire people at this company.
