I would take age into account as well. There's quite a few 30 and 40 something captains at JB, whereas most of the captains at Airways will be retiring in the next 5-10 years. If you're near 40 or over, I'd say Airways might be better. If you're 30, maybe JB. Good luck either way!

Actually most of the retirements at Airways are F.O.'s.

Just Saying.

so you are saying the average FO age is older than the average capt age???

in the past year I don't think i've flown with a capt younger than 58. did you forget all the 3rd listers that are in their 30's?

Airways.

Much better chance of recouping pay, benefits, retirement and you will have the opportunity to fly international someday.
Obviously you take the first class available but even if USair calls while you are in class still leave.

This is all a complete crap shoot as you never know what will happen with pay scales/mergers/etc, etc. In the short term B6 is a much better option but long term LCC could be the big winner for sure. Getting on a list at LCC now is like buying a lotto ticket. You are either going to lose a little or win really big.

Not to mention JB has lasted a lot longer than PE and is still making money.

PS, 2002 called and wants its PeoplExpress analogy back.

VX is more in the PE mode.

Part of the spin machine from the West......

Was bored tonight, so looked at the list of over 60 guys for bidding on the East side for the Month of Jan.

405 Capts.

80 F/Os on 330 or 75/767
61 F/Os on rest of fleet

Hmmm so I guess in the next 5 years, 80+61>405 ?!?!?!?

Not to mention, those capts going out, will result in f/o's moving over, as well as those f/o's on the wide bodies going out, moving quite a few up onto the wide bodies. If deliveries actually come, and depending on what they do with the remaining 75/767's, could be interesting...
