JetBlue Hiring Process

Looking for some insight to the process at JB. The interview packet says something about 8-12 weeks to get through the final selection from the Pilot Hiring Committee. Is this truely the case? How soon after the interview do they inform you of yeah or nay?

Things are moving much quicker than they used to. You may be offered a class "contingent" on a successful background check. There are bus classes every two weeks and I believe a 190 class each month. The twelve week wait now I think is a thing of the past. If you have no immediate issues you should hear something fairly quickly if you made it through phase I. You should hear in about a week if you made it to phase II, Good luck

That's why there is a bus class every two weeks, it's to replace all the guys that are getting their papers on their five year anniversary....

The six month upgrade to the 320 is now atleast 4+ years.
About 35 pilots have left JB this year, around 1700 on the senority list, Mostly due to final decision recalls and new hires to SW, Fed Ex, UPS and CO to name a few.
The resignations are all throughout the senority list, Capt's and F/O's on both equipment.

Rumor has it that 1000 hours could not be scheduled in the May bids due to shortage of crews.

So it takes 2.5 months to train new pilots.....

If your gonna bust chops, at least don't leave yourself open for the same.

26 have left over the last quarter according to CrewTrac. It lags a couple of weeks though. But unless "much more than 35" are left on the scheduling books just for grins, that's a pretty accurate count.

The day after your 5th year anniversary when they call you in and let you go is about the same you feel on a daily basis with your current commuter job sorry you didnt make the cut

I am actually pretty happy at my commuter job for the moment, building time to fly the G-IV, only need 350 hours before they send me to FS for the type, cant wait. But I was not trying to bust the pilots chops, more the management style of this bottom feeder "mainline" carrier.

Jetblue pretty much shut down hiring for about 8 months last year. Now things are back to the 2005 pace, and they need more pilots as they take on jets. The "gotcha" that is putting extra pressure are the 100 or so pilots that have left going other places or accepting recalls at previous carriers.

I think the slowing upgrades and a few headaches have caused some folks to re-evaluate whether staying there long term is their best option. I've said it before--I LOVE this kind of turnover. ANY problems filling guys in training means pilots are collectively "raising the bar". We've got 2 tools to help us get ahead--unions and macro economics. Its been a very tough road for unions the last 5 years with chapter 11s, etc, but the macro factors are finally starting to have an impact. People are simply stepping away from a profession that requires such a big investment with such little payoff. In order to attract, retain, and utilize folks wages are simply going to have to go up some.

FWIW...I think Compass is going to be hard pressed to find and keep any FOs at the rates they propose offering. We'll see what happens...

If that's how the name of your watch is spelled that you bought down in Manhatten... and you paid more than $5 bucks, you got took my friend!

The guy is not perfect, but he tries to do the "right" thing.
He hasn't lived up to all of his promises, but I'd say he's pretty successful for someone who didn't finish college and is still married to his original wife.

And ask even Bavarian, he didn't force anyone to work for him.

Yeah, I know why. I just thought anyone who wants to interview should know why. You call that flamebait? I call it asking the right questions.

Why would anyone come on here and not tell the truth about our hiring process and why indeed we need bodies to fill the classes?
