I was in the first class of 2010. We had 22 bus crews, 20 e190 crews and of those about 50% that I have talked to plan on switching to the bus. Some though have elected to stay on the 190 for reasons including... They are holding ~50/160 in Boston, meaning weekends off... And our class missed e190 capt by about 250 numbers on the last bid. Bidding to the bus could mean , but likely won't, that you would miss out on an upgrade.

August of 2010 started this latest hiring spree of 250-300/year, so 8/12 they should be starting to jump ship

We were hired 9/2010. I don't think the 190 guys are eligible on the march bid, probably the June bid.

15000+ TT
10000+ Jet PIC
17 yr at regionals

Just curious. How did you make the decision to leave your regional after 17 years? Surely you must of been bidding a very good schedule with plenty of time off after all of that time.

Was the compensation substantially better at JetBlue?

Regardless of your reasons I applaud you for shedding the golden handcuffs. That's a tough thing to do.

System bid after bid we lose guys here in JFK over to the 320 and some laterally over to BOS on the 190. Most of my buds have made the transition to the BUS after the seat lock. I'm going to see how my QOL improves in JFK by the 2 year mark to see if I move off the Jungle Jet. With the way BOS is built up and the decline in JFK, could also change how I feel about things. I don't feel like commuting up to BOS when I live so close to JFK. YMMV

QOL mostly, along with career prospects. I live 10 miles from Logan and even though I know bases come and go, I am very encouraged by JBs commitment to the Northeast and in particular BOS.

Couple that with the current events at AMR and my career horizon it makes sense for me and my family.
It was an individual decision and one that I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to make. I realize one size does not fit all however.

The debate rages about jumping ship at the regional between me and my friends. I for one think starting over at a company which I would not mind spending the rest of my career at is not a problem. The main thing is that I did the math and because of all the lifers at Mesaba (Pinnacle) I would be 55 before I held weekends off in MSP. There are so many that get blinded by a semi decent schedule and being based at home they are willing to put up with anything (sham bankruptcy, mergers where seniority is screwed for some and now possible concessions with another possible bankruptcy.

Some even say that they do not think that leaving has a "payoff" because the starting pay is low. I do not think that the regionals have a bright future. A great reason to go to a good company.
