Outsider looking in only (so throw your shoes if you must...), but giving up JFK slots expand in DCA sounds pretty smart to me. JB gets crushed whenever NYC goes down for weather. Having more cities and more options seems like a win/win. I don't see JB guys to London or Europe anytime soon, so the extra overflow of folks might be good for them.

If I were an AA guy, however, I might be questioning this one. Are they just surrendering some of the domestic market?

See, Albie says good for Jetblue. Hope there is still money in the merger fund if it comes to that, or does the company have to look out for you?

I really like the part in the article where Arpey waxes eloquent on the brand and product of Jetblue, but when asked by a reporter if he has ever flown on Jetblue, he says, well "no".

Yep. Dave cares too much about the brand. Those of you that have been using that argument the last 9 years can throw that out the door. Wake up people!!!!

Dave cares about the brand and "organic growth" right up to the point that business says to stop. If it improves his paycheck then that is what he is going to do. Regardless of how affects the pilots and other employees. He will sell us down the river on the fastest boat if it is good for His pay, the BOD, the stock holders, the customers. Notice the employees are not on the list.

This is a pretty strong response from AA to maintain its share of the NYC market. They significantly increased frequency to ATL and MSP from LGA and are allying with JetBlue in JFK and BOS. I wonder who they are going after? ;-)

I can just see the new Airbus now; Star Alliance on one side for Lufthansa and One World on the other for AA.

It all has to start somewhere and sometime. This is it, not sure what will transpire but this is something. To ignore it or brush it off on either pilot side is naive. There was WAY more discussed than just this "marketing agreement" over the course of three months talks between the headsheds. And anyone who bought the JB large airplane rumor to fly Europe or SA.......sorry all smoke. Growth is gone at JB

What is disapointing is the JBPA would have been over a year old by now...[~16 months?] I personally think more time is needed to be effective for a merger/buyout etc.... but no representation is like a black American trying to get a fair trail when the grand dragon is also the judge in 1920s Mississippi.....

AMR bought up Reno and TWA, prepped Midway for purchase.

Small companies build up a market and get bought by multinational corporations.

Dave has been the custodian of the correction of the balance sheet. He has done a great job. Debt paid off. No growth. JB stock stuck at $5. BOD nor Lufthansa are pleased with share price vaulation. Lufthansa would love to recoup investment. Read between the lines.

JB is an easy, attractive debutant that the German Papa wants married off.

How long does Dave have left on his contract? Did Dave just sell his NYC pad?
