We have what used to be an air-force base in the vicinity of our airport. The runway is 11,820 feet long!!! Is this basically at the upper end of runways, or are some even longer than that???

Here are a few examples:

KAMA - Amarillo, TX 13502 x 300
KSLN - Salina, KS 12300 x 150 (used to be 300)
KSPS - Wichita Falls, TX 13101 x 300
KSWF - Stewart, NY 11818 x 150
KMWH - Moses Lake, WA 13503 x 200 and 10000 x 100
KDEN - Denver, CO 16000 x 200
Groom Lake (Area 51) 27000 (width unknown)
Ulyanovsk Russia 16404

...to name a few.

ITs the desert floor...its as long as you want it to be :D

I flew over Edwards in the late winter and all the dry lake bed was good for was sea planes! You could only see the NE portion of the lake bed. The rest was under water.

I think KMWH is 300 feet wide.

From http://www.airnav.com/airport/KMWH

Runway 14L/32R
Dimensions: 13503 x 200 ft. / 4116 x 61 m
Surface: asphalt/concrete/grooved, in good condition
FIRST 10000 FT AER 32R GRVD 150 FT WIDE.
Weight limitations:
Single wheel: 85000 lbs
Double wheel: 155000 lbs
Double tandem: 320000 lbs
Dual double tandem: 600000 lbs
Runway edge lights: non-standard

ROW - Roswell, NM
Great scenery there as there are so many retired aircraft to taxi past... Good for density altitude lesson (elevation: 3671 ft) when it is 115 degrees on the ground in mid-August!

Runway 3/21
Dimensions: 13001 x 200 ft.

KTTS - shuttle landing facility in Titusville, FL, and they have a brand new tower... smile

Runway 15/33
Dimensions: 15000 x 300 ft.

I've been to KAMA in a 152. I didn't get to land on the big runway, but i took off and it was awesome. Taxing to the centerline took forever ;)
