A guy in my class at GAC got back-to-back 18 day trips right out of IOE - 36 days in a row in Africa.
When he got home his wife met him at the door and said Me or The Job. He resigned that day.
That schedule is the reason I won't be applying. How can you even contemplate having a family life? 16 days is waaaaay too long. Sure, I know that Atlas has longer trips - something like 21-25 days in a row. I note that UPS doesn't have super long trips like that but it can be impossible to get on with UPS - that's the catch.

Is the Chief Pilot still MA?
Is it possible to make more than guarantee on the MD-11 at Gemini? When you go out, are your trips all international or do you go back and forth thru the US a few times? Thanks for any info

Do they prefer a paper resume or an emailed one?
Also, is there that many guys leaving that they need to hire that much?
Kumar just called with my travel. Commercial to BOM on first leg this time, flying with two DC-10 transition FO's from the class behind us.

I'm just curious but I did hear a story from a buddy of mine who ran into a former gemini captain. Not sure how long ago it was or anything but it was about gemini dispatch forgetting to file overflight permits with some nation in africa, it may have been nigeria or kenya. And on the third time when they landed in that country the entire crew was arrested and thrown under house arrest in a hotel for 4 days. After 4 days the crew had still not heard from gemini or had not been allowed to contact dispatch or something to that effect. So after the fourth day they were actually thrown into a kenyan jail or whatever which was filled with urine, crap, rats and nastified food for a day or two. Supposedly the F.O. got sick but they were finally realeased and allowed to return to the u.s. Is there any truth to this story that the company didn't even react until they got thrown into the jail. Just wondering about the validity of the story. I've been wondering since I heard about it.
Well, it must have been as restful as the hotel in Vatry!
Wow that is a lot better than the real story. I have talked to the Captain and one of the f/os (there were two) and the loadmaster.
I am not going into specifics, however they were afforded local lawyers provided by the compay and also sort advice from the US Embassy. The Captain was in contact with the company during the majority of the ordeal. A dispatcher did lose his job over it, more of a scapegoat. The dispatch team is overworked and undermanned.
