Why are the current contracts "crew intensive"? How do you guys get paid for when you are getting into position? Thanks for the info...
That schedule is the reason I won't be applying. How can you even contemplate having a family life? 16 days is waaaaay too long. Sure, I know that Atlas has longer trips - something like 21-25 days in a row. I note that UPS doesn't have super long trips like that but it can be impossible to get on with UPS - that's the catch.
Kumar just called with my travel. Commercial to BOM on first leg this time, flying with two DC-10 transition FO's from the class behind us.
Who does Emerates code share with?

Wow that is a lot better than the real story. I have talked to the Captain and one of the f/os (there were two) and the loadmaster.
I am not going into specifics, however they were afforded local lawyers provided by the compay and also sort advice from the US Embassy. The Captain was in contact with the company during the majority of the ordeal. A dispatcher did lose his job over it, more of a scapegoat. The dispatch team is overworked and undermanned.
Hey Fog! I got t BOM minus my bags, courtesy of BA.
Yes, he starts class at Brown on the 23rd. Move up another number, boys! It didn't affect me as I was a couple of numbers senior.
There are other Capts looking, however.
Hey Fog! I got t BOM minus my bags, courtesy of BA. I think my AA miles took as I started in the states. I may do the same and get cards for the other carriers for travel when over here.
Handle it, handle it, handle it! That's the life of a freight dog, I'm afraid. What do they expect you to do?
I don't think you can get miles on UA or AA if you've originated the trips outside the US and the tickets were booked on those airlines, rather than AA or UA..
What's the recommended procedure to apply at GAC. Send to corporate? Fax? Ect. And who's the person to address your resume to? Are they doing any roadshows (i.e., AIR, Inc)?
Thanks for the feedback
Hey V70T5, how about giving them an idea of what it's like from a new guy viewpoint now that you're flying the line?
Good luck in all your endeavors,
Waldo
Not true....
That's apples and oranges, I'm afraid. That is an in house program for Gemini aircrew members, and admitedly a great opportunity for our FE employees.I've heard that some DC10 FE s have been able to move into the right seat of the MD11 with not much more than a commercial/Instrument/MEL license

Don't expect to walk in with 300 hours in your logbook and be hired into an MD-11 seat. As far as I know the minimum time for new hires is still 3000tt. Still not sure on the PIC.
