I'm not sure how accepting a job at a regional which doesn't pay very well, but is better than some(not many) is morally wrong. And finally, if I slugged it out flying night freight and instructing would I still be a bastard for accepting the job at a regional? Will the pay suddenly increase with my secret night freight handshake?

The whole point is that Mesa has crappy pay and work rules because people like you plunk down the cash to get to an airline that pays less than industry standard because you have no other options with your experience level and are forced to put up with it. Because of that the rest of us suffer because Mesa undercuts us, threatens to take our flying, and we are forced to either hit the street or come down to your crappy pay scale. So yeah you are partly responsible for ruining the profession.

What's BS about it? Is it the fact that they have placed over a thousand pilots into the same regional airline with an attrition rate 3x better than hires off the street while in GS, or is it the fact that people who spent 4 years at an aviation university will have to instruct for 2 more years before they get their interviews( i had 3 embry riddle guys in my class)

Thats what's BS about it, they only place people at one regional airline... the worst one. "3X better attrition rate," sure I'll buy that. What were you going to do if you didn't get this job? Nothing? What else are you qualified for?

Congragulations, I hope its everything you thought it would be.

If every single student to graduate San Juan was still at Mesa that wouldn't even be half of the pilot group. As it is they only graduate about 10-20 ab students 3 times a year. As for plunking down the cash I believe that everyone has to pay for their intial training, right?? Bottom line the cost of living was less where I was, and I flew better equipment in a better training enviroment with better instructors for the same price as I was getting in LA. If you believe that San Juan guys are really keeping MESA in business than you are simply delusional. Just because we get an inside track to an airline that you don't like makes us the worst people on Earth eh? Hell I think I saw a MESA FO slap a pregnant woman as she boarded a Skywest flight last week.

About not having any other options though, you are right. I'm thinking that you must not have gotten your comm ticket yet because you would know that there pretty much are no other options out there, so the fact that yes we can go to a regional with 250 is pretty good in my book. There are 50-100 banner tow jobs out there this summer, so U can instruct or buy time until 500 hrs when other jobs will open up. No one said that we can't flight instruct did they? I don't see that on my ticket... "No Flight Insrtructing-CRJ FO MESA AIRLINES ONLY" Riddle guys or UND guys HAVE to flight instruct, which isn't a bad thing, but they don't get what we get so I don't really see your point. If you don't like MESA thats fine by me, but don't be an ignorant jerkoff, because it just looks so sad to see someone say that a flight school is crappy because they only place their students at one regional ok?

Make No mistake

Mesa and MAPD, SJU etc. killed ACA.

When UAL declared BK several years ago, they hired your beloved Mesa, an airline they had fired for there piss poor service, to lower the pay at all the UEX carriers.

The pilots at ACA gave a small pay concession, but it wasn't enough, they needed more to compete with Mesa. We refused to work for Mesa wages. This left ACA with no other choice, we proudly started Independence.

While many mistakes were made, Mesa is directly responsible for the life and death of Independence Air. Throughout Independence's short life management constantly came to the pilot group asking for Mesa payrates, work rule and benefits. Each time, we refused. We would rather die than give in to lowering the bar on regional pay.

And so it is, that tomorrow Independence Air will die. But make no mistake, you and your band of San Juan whores helped make it possible. At least we never gave up our pride or our dignity. We drew a line in the sand and we refused to work for less. We refused to work for those wages, and you are proud you were able to pay $30,000 for an interview.

So what's next for you guys at Mesa. I suspect you'll set your sights on AirWis, as you already did once, or Comair. Maybe you can steal their flying, too. But both of those groups have proven they're unwilling to work for Mesa wages. Since they won't win the battle to be the lowest bidder, you'll probably destroy them, too.

Most Indy pilots, including myself, have moved on to bigger and better jobs. I think I volunteer for the pilot interview board. Maybe I'll see you there. You won't get the job. We'll never tell you this, but between the SJU, MAPD and Mesa, we'll find a reason to just say no, one more time.

Or XJT where I work! Well said Indy refugee. You guys at ACA/Indy were always tops. Atleast you can always hold your head high saying you did the right thing. I wish all of you the best.

Theres nothing morally wrong with working for mesa air group. SJC didnt kill anything and I never paid for an interview, anyone who is that foolish in their thinking probably votes hillary.
