Be yourself! Unless your an idiot, then pretend to be someone your not.

You're trying to sell a product (that's you) and you need to polish it and make the airline want it. Be confident but not arrogant. Be honest about anything that's ever been in writing about you.

Make sure they know:
you really want to work for them
how good you are at pleasing customers
you work well with others and you're good at resolving conflicts
you've learned from your mistakes
you're a team player.

It's okay to laugh but don't crack jokes (unless they ask for one). The color/style of your suit is irrelevant as long as it's modern. A stylish but not flashy tie is fine (my interview tie is a Jerry Garcia with plenty of green, my favorite color). Bring some form of food like a granola bar in your briefcase since you could be waiting around for long periods. Smile a lot. Three-quarters of the interview is getting the them to like you.

Lots of pilots take a few interviews before getting hired. You'll get better at it. I used to practice answering squirmy questions in front of a mirror so I could project good body language and eye contact. Video taping yourself works as well. Good luck.

Honest open responses and dont dodge the difficult questions with BS answers. There are basically two types of questions, technical and behavioral. The tech stuff should be cake: ifr mins, app. brief. yada yada. The questions that start with "describe a time" or "How would you....." are the ones that will reveal your personality traits. Take a few seconds to formulate your answer but dont stall. Most of all relax and enjoy the process. Remember you are interviewing the company too, so have a question or two ready for the interviewer(s) at the end. Such as "what have you enjoyed most about working for XYZ airlines?"
Oh one last thing, make sure your fly is zipped, Ive actually seen this happen:)

Yeah, here's some advice: if your interview is at ExpressJet, don't bother. The sh1t really hit the fan today....if you haven't heard already.

No regional is immune to the sh$t that's happening. Go in as informed as possible and your eyes wide open. Then hope things change for the better.

WTF are you worried about? You've got the gouge of FMN I'm assuming. You don't need them, the company needs YOU! I heard to keep up with attrition they need 60+ people a month, and can't fill their classes like it is. You'll be fine. They're hired worse :)! (j/k).

If you want the gouge for any airline, go to www.aviationinterviews.com.
I interviewed with one company where 95% of the questions I was asked were on there. Oh yeah, be yourself and don't BS them too.

Thanks for all the responses guys, even the funny ones.

I think I'm ready and have read lots of gouge, studied, recorded answers, pepto bismol and caffeine etc.

PS If I don't get hired it's wheelsup's fault
"ccccccccccya!"

Overall things went well.
ATP was fine
HR no problem
Mechanical stuff went by real fast
Made a small error on the finger flying (DOH!) and I couldn't remember how to do a stupid DME hold(the DME hold funtion, as in DME data from NAV2 not an actual hold) on the CRJ. Besides that everything went pretty smooth...

We'll see how it goes...

Take the job and then use all the overnights to steal toilet paper/soap, shampoo, and light-bulbs from the hotels. Steal trashbags from the a/c. Take 2-3 sodas home after every trip. Take the maxi-pads from the lav and the soap if it'll unscrew. F' it, it's all about looking out for #1 in this industry.

I got hired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We'll see how it works out....

I'm guessing Mesa through some BS program? You should be VERY proud. How else does someone have their "first interview" and get a regional job. What a crock. Don't forget to start a website, blog, etc. so we can keep up with your "career."

Yup,
Make sure you let the interviewer know that your superior flying skills will make up for any MX deficiencies.
Be careful what you wish for you might get it.

What's BS about it? Is it the fact that they have placed over a thousand pilots into the same regional airline with an attrition rate 3x better than hires off the street while in GS, or is it the fact that people who spent 4 years at an aviation university will have to instruct for 2 more years before they get their interviews( i had 3 embry riddle guys in my class)
