Yes it's true, I will interview tommorrow at a regional tommorrow.

Any advice this is my first interview ever for a flight job.

Thanks guys...

Show 'em you're nuts!

WHoooHoooshidick

MCPIKLE
Take the job and then use all the overnights to steal toilet paper/soap, shampoo, and light-bulbs from the hotels. Steal trashbags from the a/c. Take 2-3 sodas home after every trip. Take the maxi-pads from the lav and the soap if it'll unscrew. F' it, it's all about looking out for #1 in this industry.

Man that's funny as hell
You gotta b Newark based
Quit, Run, Do any thing other than this career, HA Ha ha.....
URSOOOOooooooscrewed........

Newhires don't know any better. It's not until the company you're at starts asking for Mesa type wages and work rules, do you realize the value of an industry average contract.

I'm guessing Mesa through some BS program? You should be VERY proud. How else does someone have their "first interview" and get a regional job. What a crock. Don't forget to start a website, blog, etc. so we can keep up with your "career."

What's BS about it? Is it the fact that they have placed over a thousand pilots into the same regional airline with an attrition rate 3x better than hires off the street while in GS, or is it the fact that people who spent 4 years at an aviation university will have to instruct for 2 more years before they get their interviews( i had 3 embry riddle guys in my class)

You poor, poor VICTIM. Not even started GS at the hell that is MESA and you're already defending SanJuan. You'll fit right in there. BTW, better check those facts on sanjuan attrition...I think you've been duped.

What flavor of Kool Aid did they serve you at that interview? Must be some good stuff!

Wow for people calling me an idiot, some of you don't make much sense...

I don't remember saying anything about my wages. I didn't say anything about San Juan, but since it was brought up, it did EXACTLY what they told me it would( I DO have a job don't I?). Now I know this might sound strange but I didn't negotiate any pay rates for any airlines, and I'm sure that San Juan College hasn't produced enough pilots to completely drown then entire aviation community with sadist pilots asking for the minimum possible compensation to the point of ruining the profession. I'm not sure how accepting a job at a regional which doesn't pay very well, but is better than some(not many) is morally wrong. And finally, if I slugged it out flying night freight and instructing would I still be a bastard for accepting the job at a regional? Will the pay suddenly increase with my secret night freight handshake? (I'm not doubting that it produces solid pilots, or that I'm willing to do that.) Are all regional pilots a disgrace to America, Lindberg Apple Pie and Baseball or is it just low time Mesa guys who haven't crossed a picket line or signed on at Freedom or PFT'd?

If you're looking for guys supporting MESA go to Mesalounge. It's really quite upsetting frankly that some people can't accept the fact that someone is excited about getting a job at the end of their college courses. But then again this is flightinfo and you guys are probably tired from a long day of complaining about your lives in person with your flightcrew and are probably sleepy.... I'm finished arguing about this anyway

its not about getting a job its about the fact if people wouldnt take the jobs at mesa they would have to start paying and treating their pilots better, hence making the industry just that much better. Getting a job is a great feeling but you will see why everyone complains about mesa once the new rubs off. Taking a job at mesa is only contributing to the down fall of the regionals. When some of the other regionals try and step up and make things better in the god forsaken regional industry it always gets thrown back in their face, "well we pay you this much isnt that better than mesa"

Good Luck Boss

Don't sweat it, enjoy the job. It's a tough industry all around especially at the regional level. You've got some tough years ahead of you. I did the commuter thing 12 years ago (they didn't call them Regionals back then) and quit after 3 months because I couldn't afford the job, and back then the pay was better than it is now. I really haven't figured out the whole "dues paying" thing when it comes to regionals, personnally I consider it dues paying. Crap job, crap pay and crap schedules. In 5 years or so, if you haven't quit, been furloughed, had the company go under, or like my buddy Matt at AE, had some idiot kill you because he didn't know the full signifigance of the "Engine Relight" light and stood on the wrong rudder after feathering a running engine on short final, You'll be able to move onward and upward in an industry that is continuously destabilizing and where pay concessions are an annual event. While you are at this job, you may want to consider something like a Distance Learning MBA course such as one from Herriot Watt Business School through the University of Edinburough. Very respected course, there are others as well. Keep your options for the future open, and good luck.
