NJI is NOT hiring off the street or is there a cut off date?...

Pilot Merge

 I really don't see why anyone from NJA would care what happens at NJI. VERY FEW from NJA will see the Left seat of a G. The merge will only help those fat cat G drivers smile all the way to the bank!:);)

officially NJI can hire off-the-street until November - but the classes are all filled. After November all hiring comes fromthe 'A' side

I care because in 30 years very few will remember that NJI and NJA were ever seperate. I may not ever see the left seat of the GIV or the GV, but I will have a good chance to be in the left seat of the G650 or whatever comes after. Think past 20 years and you can see why I care.

It's not a "merger" kids, it's a seniority list integration. The collective bargaining agreement will apply to all pilots but there will be differences between the operations and, at least for the next few years, Okatie will continue to operate as a separate entity. NJI isn't pulling up stakes and moving to CMH (and thank your favorite deity for that). As FLYLOW said, it's gonna be fine (and he's right about ALPA and APA too...)

:) Hey Gut, your right again, Also I don't plan on giving my seat up for at least 10 yrs. Like Willy said, I'm looking forward to the 650 myself, maybe even that SSBJ. Hang in there Willy 20 yrs go buy fast.

From what I hear this is a GOOD thing. Some of the people in CMH could screw up a free lunch.

While this is very true, G right seaters will also never see the left seat of a G if they are still FO's when the integration occurs. I'm sure they're not happy about that.

Not quite true - unless RTS goes back on his word.

okay, HQ says 5000 pilots tops, right? With the integration of NJI into NJA, does anyone know approx. how many NJI pilots are going to be added to the joint list? How many NJI pilots are their? I'm assuming the NJA list is around 2900 pilots.

Not including NJA crossover pilots, there are about 320 pilots at NJI. The last VSL I saw showed a seniority number of almost 3100 at the bottom of the list. Part of the integration agreement will be finalizing a current seniority list.

Right Again Yank, Unless RTS goes back on his word, All pilots at NJI as of now, will upgrade as needed to include the G5's. So if you show up on the door step now, you'll have to get in line with everyone else. :D

Dinger,

That remains to be seen. I don't know that he'll have a choice.

Do you mean that a more junior NJI FO's will upgrade to a Captain Spot in a G4 before a more senior NJA FO? Or do you mean that the VSL seniority will rule, that whichever is more senior would get the position?

In the LOA, (once the integration occurs) it does state that All G4 vacancies will be awarded on the basis of seniority. All G5 positions will be filled from the g4 program, and in addition any g5 captain spots must come from G4 captains, (I read this as no FO G4 or FO G5 straight to G5 captains. A G4 captain could come straight from NJI as long as no more senior NJA pilot bids it.) (Very unlikely.)

I paraphrased the LOA, I am posing a link to the actual document from the NJASAP site for those who wish to read what it says and interpret it for themselves.... (I am not sure if you need a password or not for the contract section of the union site.)

http://www.njasap.com/library/2007cba/2007cba_loas/LOA01-013.pdf

Of course, if both the NJASAP and the company want to make a new LOA, or another IBB with other terms, that would change things. I am not sure if any interpretive transcripts were made regarding possible integration, so there may be more documents to look at too.

so let me see if I got this right....

G4 FO NJI ....we will say hired in 2007....can ONLY upgrade when they can hold CA senority ( the cimbined list) which will be on NJA equipment... Like the 400XP as an example....whenever their senority can hold it?

just curious...I dont work at either

That is the way I read the LOA. RTS may have promised the FOs at NJI that they will all see the left seat of a Gwhiz in their career, if that is the case we better be getting a shi! pile of them. The facts are there are only so many seats and some of the double digit senority guys are lining up for those jets if they are flown under the current CBA. We are talking guys who were flying at NJA quite a while before NJI was created.

Makes sense to me.

I hope you guys DO get a ***** load of them!! Hopefully that is the plan! Time will tell.

That is my personal belief without any additional LOA that would change the contract language. (This would be my reasoning in a grievance if someone junior on the seniority list was upgraded before me to a G4 no matter if they were former NJI or NJA.)

And really, if we are all the same pilot group, I don't see a problem. I may have to wait longer for an upgrade in a Citation V because they have G4 FO's that are more senior to me, just as there might be more senior excel, 800XP, or any other fleet.

On the other hand, since there are way more positions in the NJA fleet vs the NJI fleet, they could actually upgrade sooner (and get captain pay quicker) than if they had to wait for a G4 slot to open up at Netjets.

I say let all of the NJI sic's upgrade in the GIV and give me bypass pay. I will sit as a sic on the Hawker for life and not complain. They get the pic slot and I get some more money. Who can argue with that?
