We certainly don't have enough airplanes left to fly it all, though.
Only if you don't count all those Cat II DC-9s we parked.

Doesn't mean their not taking notes. Flying fuel hungry jurrasic jets around that don't get where they are supposed to go is expen$ive. They may not care about the customer, they may make boneheaded decisions, but I doubt they like obviously pi$$ing money down a rathole, at least on the mico-economic scale the last couple of days represents. Not much point in getting into the "big" picture.
Where did that come from?
It amazes me to hear the Astar guys blame everyone but themselves, everytime. Unbelievable...
yea, they're "taking notes"......such as filling DC9's with ground freight to make it appear they are carrying more priority freight, double billing and hiding freight in warehouses in ILN, a 2500% increase (that's not a typo) in internal theft since the consolidation, a constant and huge turnover of ground personel working the sort, nights when the weather goes bad over half the work force (ramp and sort) not showing up for work, etc, etc,etc.................

Can someone please sort the truth and BS from this? I am a frequent DHL customer and the only of the above accusations I have noticed is my ground shipments being overnighted. For that, I would like to thank ABX for placing my boxes on planes when there is space available.
you need to have your tin foil hat checked for leaksyea, they're "taking notes"......such as filling DC9's with ground freight to make it appear they are carrying more priority freight, double billing and hiding freight in warehouses in ILN, a 2500% increase (that's not a typo) in internal theft since the consolidation, a constant and huge turnover of ground personel working the sort, nights when the weather goes bad over half the work force (ramp and sort) not showing up for work, etc, etc,etc.................
This is one problem I don't think you can blame entirely on Dasburg. He's a businessman...he'll give DHL whatever they want, provided they're willing to pay for it.
The question of why Airways wasn't Cat II was raised in the early 90's. At the time, their excuse was that DHL didn't want to bear the cost of certifying and maintaining their aircraft to the higher standard. They felt that at best, Cat II certification would be of value to less than 1% of their operations.
I guess nobody gave any consideration to the true cost of being only 99% reliable.
It ought to be a "weve both got it stuck in the zipper" thread.
This has become the most rediculous friggin thread. For the last time....
If/when DHL or Daz or whoever puts CAT II/III in the antiques we fly or replaces them with more modern equip. We'll fly it and DHL will reap the benies. If they don't, we won't simply as that. Concerned, yes...have been for as long as any of us have been here. Who makes that call....DHL.
Obviously, if CAT II/III aircraft were more important to DHL than A-containers , there wouldn't have been all those ABX 9's and 8's parked. Who made that call.....DHL.
Guy's(and girls, can't offend Ole Miss), to recap.....The common thread for the ills here isn't AStar OR ABX.....not really, it's DHL. The only exception to that by some here would be the repective opinions on both sides regrading the two pilot goups positions on scope, but day to day, the ills that vex you are not from the other side's group of pilots. This turned quickly into a "mine's bigger than your's" thread. It ought to be a "weve both got it stuck in the zipper" thread. (No offence inteded laidies.)
"2500% increase in theft since the consolidation." mmm, what has changed since the consolidation? Astar people and a few DHL folks have come to ILN. You do the math then, who would be logically responsible for the increase? Astar and DHL.
Uh, thats skewed logic, your math is wrong, it's the other way around. Theft is up 2500% since DHL's sort moved into the ILN hub from CVG. Astar and DHL were together in CVG with DHL employees doing the sort in CVG. Then the purchase of Airborne Express (ground ops not ABX Air) by DHL, the move is made and Airborne Express ground folks take control of the sort and the theft increases. Understand now? Also don't forget about the hooker operation they busted out on E ramp....gotta love having your hub in pig town.....
Wow, I think you have it backward. Some of your ex "airborne" folks have finally seen the light and these are just the costs of doing business until you can get it all spooled up. I will hate to see you go, but some one has to. Maybe you could bid a line in Japan, on second thought maybe you can just hold your breath!
Now there's a business plan for you! Lets go out and lose 10's of millions of dollars worth of business we already have to "get spooled up". Consult with Warren Buffet on that one did you?
Gasp! Held my breath as long as could for you. I'm still here.
Cargo, While us poor ABX guys fly our lines in Asia we will have to suffer while the general and his boys take you all to the next level. Good luck
