Doesn't mean their not taking notes. Flying fuel hungry jurrasic jets around that don't get where they are supposed to go is expen$ive. They may not care about the customer, they may make boneheaded decisions, but I doubt they like obviously pi$$ing money down a rathole, at least on the mico-economic scale the last couple of days represents. Not much point in getting into the "big" picture.

yea, they're "taking notes"......such as filling DC9's with ground freight to make it appear they are carrying more priority freight, double billing and hiding freight in warehouses in ILN, a 2500% increase (that's not a typo) in internal theft since the consolidation, a constant and huge turnover of ground personel working the sort, nights when the weather goes bad over half the work force (ramp and sort) not showing up for work, etc, etc,etc.................

Where did that come from?

It amazes me to hear the Astar guys blame everyone but themselves, everytime. Unbelievable...

>It amazes me to hear the Astar guys blame everyone but themselves, everytime.<

LOL Booger! You figured it out. Our pilot group decided against bringing the fleet up to CATII again and again over the years, so we could divert to the four corners of the earth. It's all our fault for following the rules. Oh, the shame! ;)

Nope, you guys can't be blamed for CAT II, but I am sick of hearing how DHL has screwed it all up coming to ILN, and how you guys had it all figured out down in CVG and by coming to ILN, the future hope for DHL is gone. Seems like every decision has played out wrong. Yep, DHL bought Airborne and in the opinion of some legacy DHL people, saved it from certain doom. And since then the "savior" has continued to lose market share, at an alarming rate.

Rotor, prove your allegations else take your hysterical rants and move on.

Why do you guys have to wait for DHL to pony up the money for anything? Your ACMI allows you MUCH higher margins on your flying, the only service Astar provides to DHL. Use some of those profits to benefit your business model. I would worry about a company that won't invest a dime into the program unless DHL re-imburses the expense.

'Cause "The Daz" is one cheap bastage. He won't do anything unless DHL agrees to pony for it up front. As to what he's doing with all the money this place is making, we've got no idea. He's certainly not putting it back into the company. It's very frustrating.

This is one problem I don't think you can blame entirely on Dasburg. He's a businessman...he'll give DHL whatever they want, provided they're willing to pay for it.

The question of why Airways wasn't Cat II was raised in the early 90's. At the time, their excuse was that DHL didn't want to bear the cost of certifying and maintaining their aircraft to the higher standard. They felt that at best, Cat II certification would be of value to less than 1% of their operations.

I guess nobody gave any consideration to the true cost of being only 99% reliable.

"I would worry about a company that won't invest a dime into the program unless DHL re-imburses the expense."

Boog the reality is, we are. We know Hete can use investor money to invest in infrastructure without it coming out of his pocket. Daz knows it comes right out of his. There are multiple why a manhis own wouldn't want to invest in his own company, but rest assured, one of em is probably that he doesn't trust DHL's word. Can't fault him for that. Neither do I.

Bottom line is, Daz won't invest any of his own money, profit into providing more than DHL asked for without guarantees from DHL. How that'll play out is of concern. Nearly two years ago we lost Brussels to Kallitta. Overnight. Because they practically gave away the work. Regradless of one's opinion on the Hoot, the integration, C containers, ABX loaders, etc., ABX didn't have anything to do with that loss. DHL is our problem. Period.

It really doesn't make sense to send a truck to place you fly to for priorty freight until the priorty freight fills the airplane.

All of the employees who showed for work on the various nights of snow & ice in the past few weeks were literally breaking the law when the level 3 emergency was in effect. It give the cops the right to arrest you and confiscate/impound your vehicle.

I really have no answer to your allegation on the interal theft other to express my profound disbelief.

Can someone please sort the truth and BS from this? I am a frequent DHL customer and the only of the above accusations I have noticed is my ground shipments being overnighted. For that, I would like to thank ABX for placing my boxes on planes when there is space available.

The short answer

For reasons that have been explored in various threads there is little love lost between the ABX and Astar pilot groups. This leads to a lot of rumor, innuendo, invective and hyperbole being posted here.
