"With ALPA you can refuse struck work and you'll have an advocate to back you up."
if that is even worth 2%.
The mediator has got to realize by now that this will not be settled w/ more sessions. The last two days were meant to narrow the gaps as much as possible b4 the proffer. This deal will end just as every other airline negotiation, in the 11th hour of the super mediated sessions. DN and the gang will bark fair contract or strike and BL w/ SH will sing more of the competative tune.what we'll hear is: we've set 3 more days of meeting between alpa/asa. The dates will be late March or early April. Most likely someplace southern and coastal (spring golf anyone???).
Skywest never asked their pilots to fly struck work during the CA strike in 2000 what makes you think that this will be different?

I would have to believe PBS would help close the deal. I don't exactly care for it, but I would have to think it would put us in a better position to get the wages we are after. It makes too much fiscal sense for the company to just let it go.
Now for all the pilots to complain how they would not be able to work the system to get a whole month off when they go on vacation.
We will never have a contract, not this year, nor the next, nor the next and we won't strike either..... the sky is falling all the senior captains need to leave....
Just like aerodata, expect many growing pains w/ PBS and ALOT of moaning from the pilot corp. This would be a good time to get some advise from our SKW brothers about how to work the system.

The first day they will each pass love notes.
The second day they'll both take TINY steps towards actually getting this thing done, then sit in private caucus.
The third day they'll leave early. When they get back, they'll BOTH blame the other for the lack of any REAL progress.
Then we wait 2 more months until they meet again.
NO SHIZZELLAnd the FO's that are senior to me!
There will be NO PBS in the new contract. None. It's a non-starter.
That's a geeood't wun ......That's a geeood cawpy!
Anyone think HelloNewman is D'Angelo?? I realize D'Angelo was supposedly a Comair guy and HelloNewman is supposedly a SKW guy, but they sound like the same broken record.
Anyone over at SKW actually want to claim this guy???

Why do you think the company agreed to a 3 year duration? So they can get PBS next time around!
The company has made is very clear that they want/need PBS as a cost savings measure. Why wouldn't the union save/use this during the super mediated talks to get what we really want ie. higher base salary and merger protection.

If PBS is what it takes to get this contract done, then do it! Trade it for some money and be done with it already!
Unfortunately, that is not close to being the only thing holding up this contract. Pay rates, retro, retirement and scope are the issues that cant seem to be overcome. Unfortunately, our leverage seems to be disappearing every day....and wait until Delta changes that 80% of ATL flying clause, which you bet JA and SKWY wants to change. That, along with Comairs concessions will kill us. Sorry, it's not looking good.
