Local 1108 Executive Board Announcement

April 22, 2014

Fellow Flexjet Pilots,

On behalf of the Teamsters Local 1108 Executive Board and the Flight Options Master Executive Council, we would like to extend greetings and a sincere welcome to the pilots of Flexjet. As you may know, Local 1108 represents the pilots of Flight Options, a sister air carrier to Flexjet, and CitationAir, which is wholly owned by Cessna Aircraft Company. We look forward to getting to know all of you better over the coming weeks and months.

Senior management recently announced its decision to merge Flight Options and Flexjet. In response, many of you likely have questions about the pending merger, what it?s like to work under the leadership of the senior management team at the helm of the parent company that owns both air carriers, the role Local 1108 will play in the merger process and in the future, and how all of this will affect the pilots at both carriers.

Local 1108 wants to serve as an important source of reliable information for you and your family during this transition to a single carrier. We are committed to open dialogue and the exchange of ideas from a pilot point of view. Moving forward, we will never waiver from two fundamental principles: (1) We firmly believe that when individual pilots stand together as a unified group, we all do better as members of a profession; and (2) we respect you and your opinions as individuals and professional pilots. We will endeavor to answer all of your questions and provide factual information.

Unfortunately, senior management has repeatedly denied Local 1108?s requests to allow Flight Options pilots access to Yammer, thereby thwarting a free flow of information between both pilot groups?this is in stark contrast to what management has stated on Yammer. In the interest of promoting an open dialog, Local 1108 has opened access to the IBT Local 1108 Virtual Union Hall (VUH) Message Board for the use of the Flexjet pilots. This message board is completely anonymous for the Flexjet pilots and will allow each of you to ask questions of the Local 1108 Executive Board, the Flight Options Master Executive Council, the CitationAir Master Executive Council, Flight Options line pilots and CitationAir line pilots. In addition, you will be able to discuss amongst yourselves the issues confronting Flexjet pilots in a candid and open fashion. Local 1108 will not share your information with management or other pilots; your fellow pilots and management will not know your identity unless you choose to reveal it. We invite all Flexjet pilots to register and participate. For assistance or questions please email [email protected].

To register for access go to the VUH website at http://forum.ibt1108.org, then follow the next several steps:

First and foremost, make sure you complete ALL fields on the registration page.
Again, your information will be kept confidential by Local 1108.
After you submit your registration, an email will be sent to the email address you provided. If you don?t receive it, check your SPAM/JUNK folder. YOU MUST click the link provided to validate your email address.
After clicking the link, a member of the IBT Local 1108 Communications Team will verify your information and grant your access. You will receive email notification when this is complete.

On behalf of all of us, we look forward to providing information, answering questions and getting to know you. Look for important updates and critical information in the very near future.

Fraternally,

IBT Local 1108 Executive Board

Will this forum use real names or use screen names as the past IBT pushes at Flexjet have.

Credibility is only established when one knows who the message is coming from.

" your fellow pilots and management will not know your identity unless you choose to reveal it."

Glad to help TWA

Yeah, but the admins, and whoever they choose to share it with, will know our names, addresses, phone numbers, aircraft type and bases. Btw, how much are 1108 dues each month?

"Senior management recently announced its decision to merge Flight Options and Flexjet"

Really, in what way? Where is the official announcement from management?

FUBAR!

From AIN Online April 8, 2014

http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-ne...ngle-operation

"Pilots are key to our success," KR told AIN. "We're not asking for pay cuts, and we've tried to preserve salaries. Normally, we'd try to delay a single operating system, but we want [it], the sooner the better. But it could be bad for the union, since they might not have enough votes."

Also, I listened to KR's company meeting (you remember the one he did about a month ago for FO employees one day and FX employees the next) and I took a few notes. During the meeting he said, they plan to re-introduce the company late summer with multiple store fronts, which I took to mean kind of like a Ford/Lincoln Mercury type set up. He also said twice that the certificate would be "consolidated". Finally he said, "We will absolutely put these two groups together." And he went on to say, "The sooner we get through it the better."

From the Scope section of the Flight Options pilot's CBA:

1.5(c)(2) Prior to integration of Seniority Lists in accordance with paragraph 1.5(c)(1), above, the parties shall negotiate a mutually agreeable fence agreement. The fences shall remain in effect for the period of time the acquired carrier continues as a separate transportation system. Until the fences are removed, all aircraft (including orders and options to purchase aircraft) and the operations of each pre-transaction carrier shall remain separated.

So see guys, its about the money. My understanding of the way the CBA is constructed is, Fences go up, single carrier is filed, representation vote happens, fences come down. Management knows they can't integrate, "the operations" until the fences come down. This is costing them money. Two safety departments, two training departments, two dispatch and scheduling departments, etc. Get it? This is probably why they are pushing to for a single carrier.

I think we all need to pull our heads out of the sand and deal with this situation. To deal with any situation you need information, so don't take the word of some anonymous guy like me on here. I hope you will register for the union's new message board. That way if you have questions about how all of this is going to work, you can ask the union's leadership about it. They will answer your questions carefully and honestly. Sometimes it might not be what you wanna hear, but it will be the truth.

Remember the union's leadership is made up of line pilots just like you, who have to answer to the pilot group through the election process, which is something that cannot be said of management. Where do you expect the most reliable information will come from, managers like TWA, or your fellow line pilots?
