Just got my training schedule today in the mail. They some must have gone out friday since I live close to eagan. My letter had about 25 guys listed on it for April 2 (cpt) and 3 (furlough).

I live close by too, but I didn't get anything. I'm on Vacancy 07-02, are you on that one or the first one to come out, 07-01?

Well I didn't see it personally since Im on the road but I was able to confirm also getting a letter from Mesaba today that has a April 3rd start. I also live in the Minneapolis area so I will second that they must have mailed them out on Friday.

I was on the 07-02 and will need long course training

This is exactly why I was hoping for a straight answer before putting in a notice at current employer. What they say today changes tomorrow. This whole recall has been rushed and somewhat unorganized. I look forward going back to XJ but Im a little gun shy at getting hosed right off the bat again. Hope the class dates and final award come out by Tuesday night. If anyone gets a straight answer or one that seems reliable please let us know.

Ditto

  • 07-02 award
  • Live in MSP
  • No letter from XJ
I'm starting to lose my patience with XJ all over again...

BTW, I was told a while ago that all long course folks will start April 3rd.

Long course folks first, nice. I can't wait to see the waiting list to get the short course folks through ground and sim. I would imagine there are more short course folks then long course. Enjoy the time off with pay this time while it last. I know I shouldn't be complaining yet but next its going to be they are sending me out of town for the sim even though I live in MSP. I will be sure to post it here when it happens.

Believe me, Im excited to be back soon.

How can they be doing that without a multi-class bid? Shouldn't we be able to bid on which class date we want and/or be able defer and be pay protected? Are they actually being allowed to do an end around to the entire recall bid process?

If you previously completed IOE on the Saab you are some form of short course. If you were on the Avro, CRJ, or never completed training you are a long course.

Anyone have a clear answer on how short the short course is? It's been over two years since I've had a training event, so I'm a bit fuzzy on everything. I've spent the last two hours relearning limitations while I do laundry....

the short course is 6 days long. then FMS training is one day long then two days of sim then the third day is PC. So your looking at about 10 days of short course with days off in between.

Any Idea How many are not coming back out of the 90 that said yes?? There has to be some that just want more time to decide or don't want to do management any favors.

Spanjers recent update said that over 90 showed intentions of returning. I'm sure 20-30 of those are just trying to buy more time or will simply just no show out of spite. I bet it's no more than 60 when it's all said and done. Still some cat and mouse stuff going on.

The company FKD up real bad. They but people from 07-02, with the same type of training (short course) in diffrent training classes. They cant do that... they dont have an LOA for Multi Class. Its a mess I would suspect that thing are going to change again shortly... What a joke

The short course will be 6 days of class, 2 sims, 1 pc/rft, 8hrs GPS training familarization flight and a partridge in a pear tree.

Anyone else need reasons not to come here?
They can't run an airline, but they WILL go out of their way to F*** you and your career just for sport...

I have a few questions. So we all know this 07-02 award is a little shady and probably against the contract.

1. Has anybody brought it to the unions attention?

2. Does anybody know if the union is looking into this or are the furloughs off their radar right now? I don't know maybe they are working on more important stuff like making sure their claim sale goes through.

It just sort of seems that the furloughs have been dealing with the company only. There hasn't been any formal updates from the union saying "This is whats going on, this is whats going to happen and yes or no this is per the contract. P.S nice to have you all back" The only updates I have received lately just have to do with the claim sale which doesn't per tain to the furloughs.

The union is fully aware of it and they brought it to the attention of the training and crew planning dept. on Friday. Call your reps and MEC officals and let them know your pissed. The only way we will get what we need to get done and not traded away for future consideration is to let them know that we are upset by the lack of concern that the union has been taking in these situations on our behalf. But yes they do know that what is happening in incorrect and they have said they are working on it. It remains to see what will come of it. Any situation that you think is a violation to the contract that effects us as furloughs should be addressed and brought to the proper person. Go right down the call list and get a rep or MEC person on the phone.

Random question...

Do we still have any A or straight B models... don't want to studying for them if I don't have to.

B+ only...allthough it is a stretch to call anything about them +

The union does know about this recall fiasco. It is still probably a good idea to talk to your LEC rep (or anyone rep you have a connection with) and let them know your feelings on this. The more they hear from us, the more "fuel" they have to work with.

Here I was ready to move forward and at least partially forgive the company, but then they go and proove once again that they are willing to disregard the contract and blatantly treat their employees like sh!t, just because they can.

With just a slight adjustment of attitude, mgt. could have easily secured an opening of employee good will. Instead, they are guaranteeing a few more years of pure antagonism. What a bunch of incompetent buffoons.

Where exactly is the company not following the contract in regards to how the recall is going. Are people just pi$$ed because it is a quick recall or are there truely some contract violations occuring. On a side note, there is some bypassing LOA that was just posted on the XJ ALPA website. Last time the compamy screwed the pilots on multi-class, most avro captains are still getting avro pay as we speak. Hopefully the company learned their lesson and will honor the contract when it comes to how the recalled pilots are handled.

Can someone parse the proposed LOA into English for me?

By forcing the majority of recalls into MEM SF3 FO, instead of allowing us to bid into base and equipment, the company is blatantly disregarding the spirit of the bid back provisions which they had previously agreed to. Everyone knows they do not need 150 ADDITIONAL MEM SF3 FO's.

Technically, they appear to be getting away with it. However, it is a screw job, we were supposed to be able to bid back into base and equip, and yes, many are pi$$ed about it. It is absolutely against the spirit of the contract provision.

I just spoke with the scheduling and training dept and they said that ALL 07-01 and 07-02 vacancy awarded pilots will either be in the April 2nd or 9th class depending on the type of training needed.. ie short or long course. That is with exception to the 2 or 3 starters March 26th or so for Indoc. If you call Sandy Linkert in Training she will assist you in finding your training date. 651-367-5000 or ext 5096.
That is all. CYA

The letter for class date I just got in the mail has everyone listed going on April 3 not April 2.... (Long Course mostly returning furloughs, 5 are CA upgrades, 2 are CA transitions returning from furlough off the Avro.)
