I saw that and asked Barb. She said the 07-01 award dates were set but the 07-02 weren't because it was unknown how many would be in the class... likely too many to have all in one class with the 07-01 award. So planning would be contacting us to let us know when to show.

Not that the contract matters too much to these folks, but they can only run one class for this award. Otherwise it is considered a multi-class bid, which the union has not signed off on. If they pull the trigger on that, it will get very interesting. You could get paid before you even step foot back on the property. (But I jump to conclusions)

Thats very true. I think they are trying to do what they can to get it as close to a multiclass as they can without violating the contract.

When I talked to planning a while back it sounded like vacancy 07-03 would come out right after 07-02 was finalized. Any chance they take the most junior recalls or those that need or want to come back ASAP from 07-02 fill up 07-01 which I think was like 20 people they needed. Then 07-03 comes out and they fill that with the rest of the recalls. I don't know if they can do that per the contract but who knows.

I guess my theory is that 07-02 for all Saab MEM was just a shake down to make it the worst situation to come back to (In some peoples eyes). Since they started recruiting and have a pool HR knew they could get away with not having that many recalls come back. So they put out 07-02 for a full recall. Before the pool was started HR didn't want to right off all the recalls. Now that they know who is coming back I think you will see some of the recalls end up in the CRJ. Just my theory

I wish I could also believe in your theory, but I just don't have much faith in MGT to not pull a screw job whenever they can. I don't think any recalls will be allowed into the CR9. Why should they pay for the extra training, when it is clear that they do not give a rats @ss for employee QOL, or fair treatment. MGT pulled an end run around the contract, and got away with it. They're probably celebrating over triple whiskeys right now.

Besides, with the shrinking applicant pool, they need to attract folks. Since decent pay is out of the question for FO's, a nice new jet is their carrot. Yes, yes, I know, the pay is comparatively good for a prop FO, but it's terrible for a 76 jet FO.

I wanted to believe that things are on the upswing at XJ, and to be fair, any expansion of the seniority list is at least a move in the right direction. However, we all know that we are still working for MGT who absolutely hate their employees. Nothing has really changed.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some of the recalled guys go into the 900. They obviously have no intentions of actually putting 170 FO's into MEM. I figure if they get a lot of people to come back, they would have too many Saab FO's. It seems either they would need to put some of those pilots into the 900, or spread Saab training out for many months.

I guess it might all depend on how many people come back.

This is my understanding and I know you will all correct me if im wrong. You must be on property 3 years to change A/C. So that right there whipes out about 75 to 80% of the furloughs. According to the seniority list there are only 30 furloughs that have more than 3yrs in. Then since we have all been recalled to the saab you now face a 2yr seat lock to change to the 900. I think this recall is the cheapest way for the company. Less training because most of the furloughs were saab drivers and for those that do switch or have the oportunity it just allows junior people to upgrade before you if that should be the case which i think a two year upgrade from the furlough list is a fair statement if 5 or 10 people leave a month and all A/C arrive as scheduled.
Any comments? Other than spelling or grammar.

So did anybody find out for sure if everyone starts getting paid on April 2nd no matter what happens with class dates.

Thats a nice day to start considering if you quit at your present employer to go back and lets say you finish on the Friday before April 2nd which is like March 31st you won't be able to have health insurance for April, lol.

So whats going on with the claim? Sounds like they got a good deal at $.97 on the dollar. I take it the furloughs that are going back still miss out on this deal. Whats the odds that we end up being the only ones to get screwed on this deal considering everyone else is going to sell their claim and not have to wait for Mesaba to pay out?

It sounds like somebody talked to planning and it will be early next week when a final award comes out. So will that have the class dates set in stone on it?

In my instance I have been awarded a May 1st class. I was told yesterday by three diffrent people (training dept, crew planning and crew pay) at XJ that since the class dates were April 2nd and 9th but they couldnt fit us all into class our pay will begin the begining on april when the others start. Since our class is on May 1st well will recieve medical May1 since the first day of the month is the cuttoff for medical. Ive phoned into the union and they are verifying the info.

Mesaba driver thanks for the info. I tried that extension and in the old Mesaba nice fashion she told me to plan for April 2nd since thats what the recall letters say on them. Anyway I guess I will just wait for it to come out on Mymesaba in the near future.

To go with the Short or Long course question are you senior or junior on the recall list Mesaba driver?

I am a short course and in the top quarter of the furlough list. When I called yesterday she told me of the May 1st class, but May 1 wasnt listed on the Vacancy. She then told me not to worry that I would be pay protected since they couldnt fit us all into the same class on the 2nd and 9th of April. That to me suggests MULI CLASS BID which there is no LOA for. When I called the MEC and asked questions they were like WTF. So now I was called and told today that some of the training dept people had there head up their ass and the they were doing it their own way without clerification from the head of training and planning. So now I am told it is all being changed and redone becasue they way the did it this time was in violation of the contract and they treated it like a multiclass.

I was also told that for the short course it would be as follows... 6 days of ground, 2 sim lessons, 1pc/rft, 8 hours GPS training ( to learn how to hit the D button) and a familarization flight.
But who the FUK KNWS.

Have a quick and probably easy question to answer. For new hires (i interviewed during the very first group of people, 2/14) are they putting nehires into classes such as the beginning of april class or the end of april class, (current airline vacation bidding is underway, is the only reason i inquire)

Who knows  , it's all messed up over there. Nobody recalled in this last vacancy can get a straight answer on when class will start. I've called two people, and they couldn't tell me anything. Well, one person told me we'd know on Thursday "for sure". That day has come and gone.

oh from what I hear from MEM chief, he said that with the recalls, they are looking at hiring/increasing XJ by over 500 pilots by the end of the year......ha, good luck training.....the way I guess is that in a year, we will lose around 120 pilot through attrition, that means they need to hire a lot of people....that might be motivation to come back for some, others (those hired at airlines where you only upgrade to a jet and higher pay, ) will not come back for anything.

This is exactly why I was hoping for a straight answer before putting in a notice at current employer. What they say today changes tomorrow. This whole recall has been rushed and somewhat unorganized. I look forward going back to XJ but Im a little gun shy at getting hosed right off the bat again. Hope the class dates and final award come out by Tuesday night. If anyone gets a straight answer or one that seems reliable please let us know.

Just got my training schedule today in the mail. They some must have gone out friday since I live close to eagan. My letter had about 25 guys listed on it for April 2 (cpt) and 3 (furlough).

Believe it or not but the marks went away after a few months. Must be why they picked the hose over other objects. Can't say I am to excited to get them back though.
