Im trying to get an idea about pay there... I hear you can make alot more than the base salary? How much can I plan on making the next few years there?

Oct 2004 - Oct 2005 = $37,000. All in the props with a fifth day and a duty rig of something like 12 hrs.

You can plan on ~$18,000 first year then maybe ~$25,000 second....and well just add a little extra each year as the rates go up at ASA.....

Starchkr is just joking. He's actually a cool guy to fly with despite how sarcastic he may sound on these boards.

I made $42000 first year at AirNet, but I was a floater in CMH. I was on the road all the time and had numerous 24hr weekends back in CMH. The $42,000 includes travel pay, per diem, overtime, 5th day pay, and one charter.

I made $37,000 my first year as a CMH floater and was on track to make the same this year until I changed jobs over to JetRide.

Starcheckdriver,

How is did the Lear 60 training go? Any problems?

Yes rubicon it is...this is also the same guy who said he was trying to get on "at a better place" aka ASA, so that is why i gave him his pay rates for his preferred job versus just his lowly cargo job incase he has to end up suffering through Airnet.

And actually Purvis, i really was only kinda joking, mostly serious after the last thread about his job choices. But hey, i do LOVE to be sarcastic...it is fun!!! :D

here was his original thread topic...

"I have a interview coming up at Airnet. I also have one coming up at ASA. I realize a regional is a better place to work, but if that doesnt pan out I will take the job at airnet(if hired). Im just wonder how the QOL is? Is it hard working that night shift? What is a typical night like? Are you so freaking tired you have to sleep all weekend? It seems that this single pilot night IFR twin time would look excellent on a resume.. Seems like a great place to build some quality time fast."

Notice third sentence in particular...

Buuuutttttt, to make you feel better, the pay rates above are not always average, they are probably the extreme, and most will make less. Most likely in the high 20's with an average run.

Thanks Animal...I too would love to come aboard. I update every week practically, i figure the airlineapps website says it sends an update to the airline everytime i log on, so maybe it shows some enthusiasm...hmmm or maybe it shows some psychotic attributes doing it that often...maybe i will wait a little longer before my next update, like every ten days versus seven, yeah thats it, i have figured out the magic formula for being hired!!!!! Man, after thinking that hard i need a beer, anyone care to join me?

Man i sure would love to fly Grizz around, he cracks me up in the commercials...but i think my favorite is the rabbit (dangit, i don't know his name)...the whole MX working on the plane commercial was AWESOME!!!! I think my alltime favorite has to be with the penguins though, when they come to the gate singing, and Larry(i think that is his name) asks them; "hey can you guys sing solo??" and then rabbit(DANGIT, WHAT'S HIS NAME!!!) says "yeah, so low we can't hear ya." Then the great laughter from them both...oh man, my wife has to slap me everytime i see that one cause i can't stop laughing! Oh yeah, and how about that new one on the radio where the otter is trying to teach them all spanish and they are so off it's hilarious, i wish they would make a tv spot out of it. "taco, burrito, quesadilla..." Oh man it's great!!!! I gotta turn on the radio now so i can hear it today.

starchr... He'll probably get on at ASA
I realize a regional is a better place to work, but if that doesnt pan out I will take the job at airnet(if hired).
Glad to here we are on the back burner. He'll fit in better at ASA anyway.

Hey from reading some of these posts people made it sound like a regional was a better place to work.. Sorry about the comment about a regional being better. From the research I have done it seems like Airnet is a great place to work. I didnt realize how much you could make. From their website it seemed like you couldnt make very much money. So I figured in a few years you could make much more at a regional. I think flying cargo at night would be a hell of a lot more fun than sitting right seat on a RJ for 5 years.. I have a interview in two weeks at Airnet and one coming up at Eagle and ASA... Airnet is my first choice

Hey guys I never said flying at a regional was great or ASA! I was looking at pay. Where can I make the most money building PIC... Captain pay at a regional isnt all that bad. I didnt think you could make anything close to that at Airnet.. How much can a jet captain make there at Airnet?

In most instances, a fresh regional captain on base pay will make more money than a fresh Lear captain at Airnet also on base pay.

Ahhh man, I was going to post a reply, but i re-read my post about the Frontier commercials and just started laughing again, so needless to say i forgot what i was going to say...oh well, those commercials sure are funny.

Go to the airlines. Flying on the back side of the clock is hard work and isnt for everyone. Those guys worked pretty f'in hard for 37K a year.

I'd agree. Working at AirNet is hard work, but it was fun. Ya, first year pay at the regionals is aweful, but if you look into how much you actually work, your hourly rate increases dramatically. For example, Since October 31, I've flown 2 days. My schedule consists of reserve the rest of the month with my hard days off. If I don't get called the rest of the month, which is likely since we have a plethora of pilots, I'll get paid 75 hours to work 2 days. Then on top of that, I've picked up 2 trips (3 days total) on my days off that pay above and beyond guarantee (19 more hours). In this case, I'll have worked 5 days this month and gotten paid for 94 hours. I've also got one more 2 day trip I'm eyeing that is on my days off. If I pick that one up, I'll get paid 101 hours for 7 days of work. That gives me 24 days off (including days on reserve sitting at home) and I will still be making AirNet's prop pic base salary for the month. NOT BAD. Just got to learn to work the system.

This was the best thing I could figure out to make ends meet. After all, I DID apply to Wal-Mart and they won't hire me. I KNOW, FLAME AWAY. It's not due to my work ethics, I worked there before for 3 years. They said my lack of availability does not fit with what they need currently. Afterall, I am still on call on most of the days this month. Anyone know of any flexible part time jobs in the Denver area? Preferably South Denver? Thanks!!

"Working the system", "94 hours for 5 days of work"...geez Purv, I used to think you were one of those guys who truly loved flying - not one that brags about how lazy he can be! Let's see...5 days of work, average maybe 3 legs a day - that's 15 gear handle up/down cycles, a couple hundred twists of the Comm knobs, several leather flight jacket maintenance sessions. So a total of 30 minutes of actual work? $19.00/hr x 94hrs = $1786...that's like $3500 an hour!

What would you say you do here?

Well, don't get me wrong. I DO LOVE TO FLY. However, since I'm stuck sitting reserve, I'd rather save the 45 min drive to the airport, thus saving gas money, and do less work for the same pay. Ya, it's called lazy. I've definitely gotten more lazy with this job. Once I can hold a line, I'm sure I'll get to do more flying. However, flying at the regionals is not TRUE flying like at AirNet. George has to have it by FL200. Company policy. Well, should things go bad and furloughs ever come my way, you can bet I'll put my app in at Jetride. If they wouldn't take me, I'd probably try to start back at the bottom ranks at AirNet. I DO miss flying the props. That Hamilton 1 arrival into CMH in the Van and Baron was a blast. The departure out of Burke Lakefront was fun too. Enjoy your prop days and the jet too. Who was the last person to upgrade to CPT at AirNet? See ya guys!!

ROFLMAO...oh crap that was great...ok, ok, i'll try to get up off the floor now...man that was funny.

Hydroflyer...thanks man, yeah, i look at the site pretty often to see when they put up the new ones...they are a trip. "...flightless birds pitching a frequent flyer program" "How Ironical."

I do miss the one where they are all slepping and in the end they have the Dolphin flying the "night shift" and as the plane flys away ..."hey why do i always get the nightshift"

I made $32,000 a year at airnet for a year and a half. However I flew 7.5 hours a day 4 days a week with a 12 hour duty day. 3 day weekends were very nice however. At airnet if you work hard you get paid. Oh, and you will work hard. Last month at my regional I made $1700 and flew 6 hours. I like that a lot. And I work another job. OH PURV. I work at a golf retail store. Good luck

I pulled in about 35k my first year there...I flew just over 5 hrs a day and had a fifth day. Benefits are good and the jumpseat agreements are great if you use them. I only did it one weekend there. I would guess the average there is around 30k the first year. I never had a three day weekend but coming from instructing at a busy school the schedule was a breeze.

I agree completely. I left Airnet for a fractional then promptly left the frac for a business (non-flying) gig for some cash. Nothing like flying the lear wide-axx open all day (or night). I'd do that again for the rest of my life if I could have made more money.

Okay, so far you have heard what people made their first year with 5 days of work and extra pay, such as floater pay and travel pay (which mind you is no longer available). My first year I flew an average of 50 hours a month, 4 days a week. My schedule was Tu- Standby, W & Th show at 4pm done at 1am and F was show at noon done at 8pm. First year take home was $25,500. Luckily that was in the SE US and I managed to get a crashpad for $350 a month. So yes there are runs in the system that if you work over minimum you get a nice paycheck, but right now with the Regionals laying off and reducing flights for Mainline there has been a stagnetation at AirNet. In the past 3 weeks there have been maybe 1 or 2 prop runs come open. Those runs (to the best of my knowledge) were pretty much base pay. However, we no longer have the 1 year equipment/base lock, so if you get a base run you have a chance of bidding a higher paying run (if available) in about 6 months of employment.

what airline do you fly for and how long have you been there?

SkyWest Airlines, based out of Denver. Started classes on July 28, 2005. I've got only 100 people behind me on the seniority list, but I don't see furloughs. Just stagnation. We lost about 20% of Delta flying in SLC, so we are a little fat on pilots. I've seen about 10 a month attrition on the seniority list.
