I have over 5000 hours two type ratings and at my new job my captain has not let me fly. He is extremely intimidating and a part owner in the airplane. How long does it normally take SIC's to get the controls. We have lots of dead legs and he hasn't even offered. Is this normal?
With 5000 hours, you should know that it is not normal. So if it were me, I would speak up and ask, how am I supposed to keep my skills in check if all I do is talk on the radio's. Be assertive, and let him know that you are a PILOT, not a full time radio operator, and if he does not trust your ability to fly, with or without passengers, then perhaps he has the wrong person for the job.
This type of position is not helping your career or your worth as a pilot. So take ACTION, make a command decision.
