Completely unanswerable. Wait for the general economy to start showing clear signs of improvement, and then ask that question again. No hiring, most likely more furloughs until the economy as a whole turns around, and there will be a delay after that as airline health seems to lag the overall economy by about a year.
As far as how long until the economy starts to turn around...how long until the current socialist-in-chief is removed from power?
As far as looking to the experts for answers, have you noticed that all the 'experts' have no idea what they're doing? They tell us they didn't see this coming. They tell us we need to go along with these crazy bailouts or things will get much worse. They get their way, and things get much worse. It sounds to me like we need new experts (and that applies to this and the last administration). You might as well resort to Flight Info for advice; I guarrantee we can't do worse than the 'experts'.
My non-expert opinion is that we are a long way from bottom (in this economy), we are seeing a return to the fiscal policies of the 1930's and '70's, and airlines are a pretty good bellwether of how things are going.
Two emotions rule the market (including airlines): fear and greed. The moment there is a glimmer of a hope of a recovery you will see airlines expand.
