We also laid off 25 727 captains and 20 FO's and 15 FE's. All of our FO's are now all captains that have been downgraded. We also have laid off 30 to 40 office workers and mechanic's are to follow in a few weeks.

Speculate this is due to reducing number of flights thus the bean counters are able to maximize yields. There are probably stats indicating load factors and overall passenger numbers before and after September. But sitting in the back, it sure doesn't "feel" like things have slowed down.
